    Abstract: When a plurality of image communication apparatuses, especially digital cameras, communicate images, each of the users of the receiving digital cameras can pull desired images from an image transmitting camera. In an image communicating method in which an image can be communicated by wireless in a server-client system, an image is displayed on a server camera, and an image is selected from among displayed images for transmission to a client camera. Pressing of the release button of the client camera instructs the client camera to transmit to the server camera a request to send an image to the server camera. The client camera transmits the request to send an image to the server camera. The server camera transmits the selected image to the client camera. Thus, the user of the client camera can obtain a desired image from the server camera.

    Abstract: An image pickup system including a digital camera and a personal computer (PC) connected to each other. The camera includes a camera control unit for controlling picture-taking based on photographing conditions set either by the camera or the PC, and a communication unit for communicating with the PC. The PC includes: a display for displaying the photographing condition and an image, a mouse and the like capable of setting the photographing condition through the operation on a screen, a communication unit for communicating with the camera, a capture-mode start/termination unit for selecting between a first photographing mode in which the camera serves as a master and a second photographing mode in which the PC serves as the master, and a control unit for setting the second photographing mode just after the start of control of the PC for: reading photographing information of the camera, and after that, setting either the first photographing mode or the second photographing mode in accordance with the selection.

    Abstract: A peripheral device being enable to execute a plurality of functions and being controlled from a terminal via network is provided. The device has a plurality of resources, a memory, a transmitter, a receiver, and a function controller. The plurality of resources is used for executing the functions. The memory stores a plurality of resource files each of which respectively corresponds to each of the resources and stores data of a specific store region for storing files. The transmitter transmits, to the terminal based on a file sharing protocol, information including the specific store region and a list of the resource files in the memory. The receiver receives, from the terminal based on the file sharing protocol, a first store command that designates at least one resource file in the list and requires the peripheral device to store the designated resource file into the specific store region. The function controller identifies at least one of the functions by combination of the resources corresponding to the designated resource files and executes the identified function. The peripheral device can be controlled from the terminal for executing the function which the user desires to execute with communication based on the file sharing protocol.

    Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes a connector that is directly connectable to a bus of an information processing apparatus that is separate from the imaging apparatus. This enables the set-up of the various parameters of the imaging apparatus to be performed rapidly while the imaging apparatus is directly electrically connected to the bus of the information processing apparatus, which can be, for example, a personal computer. The connector is coupled to a controller of the imaging apparatus. The photoelectric converter outputs an image signal of an object based on the image formed by the photographic lens. The controller is coupled to the photoelectric converter to control the imaging apparatus.
