Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an equalizer training unit for deriving equalization parameters for compensating data-dependent distortion in received samples by use of a training sequence including a sequence p>1 times and cyclically comprising N sub-sequences of respective combinations of L time-domain symbols of a modulation scheme, wherein the N sub-sequences are cyclically arranged in a selected order and such that L−1 symbols of a respective sub-sequence overlap with symbols in the preceding and following sub-sequences. The present disclosure further relates to a training sequence generator unit for generative the training sequence and an equalizer employing the equalizer training unit.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for packet latency reduction in mobile radio access networks. One method may include, when a buffer of a first sublayer of a wireless access link is empty and there is a new data unit in the first sublayer or when the first sublayer buffer is not empty and a data unit leaves a second sublayer buffer, comparing the number of data units currently stored in the second sublayer buffer with a queue length threshold that defines a total amount of space in the second sublayer buffer. When the number of data units currently stored in the second sublayer buffer is less than the queue length threshold, the method may also include transferring the data unit from the first sublayer to the second sublayer.

Abstract: Cognitive functions in a network, each comprising a learning module adapted to observe characteristics of the network and an inference module adapted to conclude, from the characteristics observed by the learning module, on a behavior of the network resulting from the observed characteristics, are controlled by halting and/or restarting operation of the learning module of a cognitive function of the cognitive functions, where operation of the inference module of the cognitive function is controlled independently from the halting and/or restarting the operation of the learning module of the cognitive function.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided disable one or more antennas of an antenna array in order to achieve a predefined objective while selectively utilizing the remainder of the antennas of the antenna array. The one or more antennas to be disabled are selected in a manner to avoid appreciable impact to the fidelity of the resulting array radiation pattern. For example, the method, apparatus and computer program product may disable certain antenna elements based upon the distance of the antenna elements from a predefined location relative to the antenna array, such as the distance from the center of the antenna array, and may selectively utilize the remainder of the antenna elements such that an active portion of the antenna array approximates a circular array which results in an array radiation pattern for which the fidelity is maintained.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a communication method, a network device and a terminal device. There is provided a communication method implemented at a network device, comprising: determining power allocation information for multiuser superposition transmission, the power allocation information indicating power allocation for the multiuser superposition transmission between a near terminal device and far terminal devices on one or more spatial layers; and transmitting the power allocation information to the near terminal device dynamically. There is also provided a communication method implemented at a terminal device, as well as corresponding network device and terminal device.

Abstract: An OVNA system employing an array of reference delays to estimate distance-variant phase distortion in probe light during an optical-frequency sweep thereof. The estimated distance-variant phase distortion is then used to perform a phase correction for the digital electrical signals generated in response to the probe light being passed through a device under test (DUT) during the same optical-frequency sweep. Advantageously, the performed phase correction enables the OVNA system to provide a more-accurate determination of certain optical characteristics of the DUT than that achievable without such phase correction.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sharing radio resources on an air interface. One embodiment comprises an access network element (e.g., base station) that stores a plurality of sharing patterns each comprising a different mapping of the radio resources on a physical layer of the air interface between Machine-Type Communications (MTC) and non-MTC. The access network element identifies a resource sharing window, receives input indicating conditions in the access network, selects a sharing pattern from the plurality of sharing patterns in the pattern database for the resource sharing window based on the conditions in the access network, schedules MTC transmissions on the air interface at a beginning of the resource sharing window based on the sharing pattern, and schedules non-MTC transmissions on the air interface at the beginning of the resource sharing window based on the sharing pattern.
