    Abstract: In this invention, we disclose methods for enabling ad hoc cellular base station functionality within a user equipment when the connection quality between a base station and the user equipment is limited or nonexistent. These methods include measuring a connection quality between a user equipment and its serving base station. If the connection quality is below a threshold, the user equipment can enable its internal ad hoc cellular base station functionality. This is done by running a software within the user equipment that (a) checks the connection quality periodically, and (b) enables ad hoc cellular base station functionality of the connection threshold dips below a certain value. In one embodiment, that threshold could be the same threshold value that a user equipment would use if it were making a decision to handoff to another base station based on poor connection quality.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining an appropriate transmit power of a cell based on a desired coverage distance, comprising: initializing, at a cell, a cell reference signal transmit power at a high power level; broadcasting a cell signal power measure to require a high signal power level for user devices attempting to connect to the cell; progressively lowering the cell signal power measure at the cell; broadcasting the lowered cell signal power measure; deriving a plurality of user equipment (UE) attach request distances based on a plurality of propagation delay statistics derived from UE attach requests received at the cell; comparing the plurality of UE attach request distances against a maximum distance to obtain a number of UE attach requests received from UEs physically located beyond the maximum distance; and setting the cell reference signal transmit power based on the number of UE attach requests received from beyond the maximum distance, thereby iteratively determining an appropriate cell reference signal transmit power based on the maximum distance and on UE attach requests received at the cell.

    Abstract: A method for providing increased backhaul capacity in an ad-hoc mesh network is disclosed. The method involves attaching a mobile base station in an ad-hoc mesh network to a macro cell; measuring at least one of a backhaul signal quality with the macro cell and a throughput to the macro cell; reporting information, including a signal quality parameter, a physical position of the mobile base station, a cell identifier of the macro cell, and the measured throughput, to a coordinating node; determining if the connection between the mobile base station and the macro cell is currently in use by the ad-hoc mesh network, and whether the link exceeds a minimum quality threshold; and sending, to the mobile base station, an instruction to advertise a connection from the mobile base station to the macro cell to other nodes in the ad-hoc mesh network.

    Abstract: Systems, methods and computer software are disclosed for providing a Service Bus for telecommunications infrastructure. The services bus provides a communications system between mutually interacting software applications, including a plurality of microservices, each microservice comprising: an internal bus; a data store in communication with the internal bus; a data access object in communication with the internal bus; a message exchange object in communication with the internal bus; a MAPReduce engine in communication with the internal bus; and a restful Application Programming Interface (API) bus in communication with the data access object, the message exchange object and the MAPReduce engine.     Abstract: A method is disclosed for avoiding unnecessary keepalive data transfers, comprising: receiving, at an upstream TCP connection endpoint in a radio access network (RAN) from an operator core network, an Internet Protocol (IP) packet; performing, at the upstream TCP connection endpoint, shallow packet inspection on the IP packet; and forwarding the IP packet to the downstream TCP connection endpoint in the RAN if the IP packet is not a keepalive packet, based on the performed shallow packet inspection.
