Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods to operate a display device of an electronic device. In some embodiments, a method includes receiving a user setting or input of a display control parameter, and causing or altering, based on the user setting or input, an effect of an ambient light sensor value (ALS) on control of the display control parameter. The user input may be an unlock of a touch screen input capability of the display device, and a wake of the display device from inactivity dim. Also, according to embodiments of the inventions, a method of operating a display of an electronic device includes receiving a change to one of a display brightness output level and an ambient light sensor output level, and altering, according to the change, a display brightness or contrast output level. Other apparatuses and methods and data processing systems and machine readable media are also described.
Abstract:
An electronic device: displays, on a display, a user interface that includes one or more user interface elements; and detects a press input by a contact on a touch-sensitive surface at a location that corresponds to a respective user interface element. In response to detecting the press input, the device: if the respective user interface meets first action criteria including a criterion that the respective user interface element is associated with a single option associated with the press input, initiates performance of an action corresponding to the single option; and, if the respective user interface element meets second action criteria including a criterion that the respective user interface element is associated with a first number of options associated with the press input, where the first number is greater than one, displays a first menu overlaid on the user interface with a first set of selectable options.
Abstract:
Some embodiments of the invention provide a mobile device with multiple access modes. The device in some embodiments has at least two access modes, a primary access mode and a secondary access mode, that provide different restrictions for accessing the applications and/or data that are stored on the device. In some embodiments, the primary access mode of the device provides unfettered access to all of the device's applications and/or data that are available to a user, while its secondary access mode provides access to a limited set of applications and/or data that are stored on the device.
Abstract:
An electronic device includes a first display portion, a second display portion, and a hinge connecting the first display portion to the second display portion. The electronic device displays, on the first display portion, a calendar application. The electronic device receives a request to display information about a first event that is associated with the calendar application. The electronic device, in response to receiving the request, displays on the first display portion event details for the first event. The event details include a start time and an end time for the first event. The electronic device displays, on the second display portion, an affordance for navigating the calendar application. The affordance indicates a range of time that at least includes the start time and the end time.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to receiving voice input via the one or more microphones; and displaying a visual indication of the voice input, where in accordance with a determination that a portion of the voice input corresponds to voice input that is to be transmitted to one or more devices displaying, via the one or more display devices, the visual indication includes displaying the visual indication with a first set of one or more colors; and in accordance with a determination that the voice input does not include an instruction to transmit any portion of the voice input to the one or more devices, displaying, via the one or more display devices, the visual indication includes displaying the visual indication with a second set of one or more colors that is different from the first set of one or more colors.
Abstract:
A computing device provides methods and workflow for setting up a shared family account on a content storage system, including the creation of accounts for child family members. A computing device supports the creation of a family account using an account on the content storage system associated with an adult family member acting as a family organizer. The family organizer can designate a specific account as a purchase account for allowing other family member to purchase content from content servers associated with the content storage system. The family organizer can invite other adult family members to join the shared family account. The family organizer can create new accounts on the content storage system for child family members, and can designate access and purchase restrictions for such child family members. Family members have access to shared storage content, as well as services such as family calendar, group messaging, and device location.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus of a device that converts an account associated with an application to use a single sign-on service is described. In an exemplary embodiment, the device receives an indication of a weak password associated with the account. The device further sends a request to verify an account credential for a user associated with the device. In addition, the device receives the verification of the account credential. The device additionally requests a single sign-on credential for the account and receives the single sign-on credential. Furthermore, the device sends a message to a server associated with a service for the application that the application is registered for the single sign-on service.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are systems and methods that allow activation of and intuitive interactions with a companion-display mode for an electronic device. In one aspect, a first device receives a request to annotate content on the first device. In accordance with a determination that a second device is available for displaying the content in an annotation mode and has not been previously approved to display the content in the annotation mode, the first device displays a selectable option that, when selected, causes the first device to send an instruction to display the content in the annotation mode at the second device. When the electronic device is available for displaying the content in the annotation mode and has previously been approved to display the content in the annotation mode, the first device sends an instruction to the second device to display the content in the annotation mode automatically without further user intervention.
Abstract:
A wearable audio output device that includes a microphone and one or more input devices detects an input via the one or more input devices. In response to detecting the input and in accordance with a determination that the input is a first type of input, the wearable audio output device adjusts a mute state of the microphone for a first audio function that uses the microphone without adjusting the mute state of the microphone for a second audio function that uses the microphone. In response to detecting the input and in accordance with a determination that the input is not the first type of input, the wearable audio output device forgoes adjusting the mute state of the microphone for the first audio function that uses the microphone.
Abstract:
Techniques are disclosed for transmitting an announcement to one or more devices. In one example, a first device receives a first message that includes an announcement, the announcement associated with a voice that spoke the announcement. The first device may determine the announcement from the first message, and then identify one or more devices for receiving the announcement. The one or more devices may have a particular device type of a plurality of different device types comprising at least a mobile device. The first device may determine a network path through which a second message is transmitted based at least in part on the location of a second device. In accordance with a determination that the second device is located within a local area network associated with a home environment, the first device transmits the second message over the local area network. In accordance with a determination that the second device is located away from a local area network associated with a home environment, the first device transmits the second message over the wide area network.
