Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes a transport path through which a medium to be read is transported, an image reading section disposed in a middle of the transport path and reading an image formed on the medium to be read that is transported along the transport path, a cover member that covers the image reading section and the transport path, a pressing member in which another end is supported by the cover member to cause one end to be swingable, thereby pressing the transported medium to be read against the image reading section, a circuit board member which is disposed on the cover member, and on which a grounded electric circuit is formed, and a conductive member which electrically connects the pressing member to the electric circuit formed on the circuit board member to ground the pressing member through the electric circuit.
Abstract:
A mechanism for confining a flat flexible cable of an image scanner in position is provided. The flat flexible cable is electrically connected between a circuit board and a carriage and bends differentially with the movement of the carriage relative to the circuit board under a scanning platform. The mechanism includes a confining member disposed between a first portion of the flat flexible cable and the scanning platform for isolating the flat flexible cable from the scanning platform. The confining member changes states and bends differentially with the movement of the carriage relative to the circuit board under the scanning platform, and has a bending resistance greater than that of the flat flexible cable. Accordingly, the confining member is kept at least a certain clearance from the scanning platform while confining the first portion of the flat flexible cable thereunder.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes an image pickup element that emits an electrical signal based on received light, a document table including a reading window, a document cover, a base plate including a flat portion that opposes the reading window, the base plate being displaceable in a direction of separating from the document cover and a direction of approaching the document cover, a spring portion that is integrally formed with the base plate, and a document presser that presses the document placed on the document table toward the reading window and includes an elastic member that is elastically deformable and is adhered to a reading window side of the base plate. The document cover includes a first pressing portion that conveys force due to a weight of the document cover acting to press the spring portion toward the reading window when the document cover covers the reading window.
Abstract:
An optical scanning device includes a plurality of stations, each of which includes an light source, a deflector (polygon scan), a scanning optical element, and a housing. The light source emits a light beam to a plurality of surfaces to be scanned. The deflector deflects light beams emitted from the light source. The scanning optical element scans the surfaces to be scanned with light spots of the optical beams deflected by the deflector. The housing houses therein the light source, the deflector, and the scanning optical element. The scanning optical element is secured to the housing so that directions of scanning-line curves caused by temperature change match between the surfaces to be scanned.
Abstract:
A rotation of an original cover and a hinge member in a vertical setting state of an image reading apparatus is locked by a simple operation. A locking mechanism which fixes the hinge member to the image reading apparatus is provided. The locking mechanism is fixed in a state in which the image reading apparatus has vertically been set by using its side surface on the hinge side as a setting surface and its fixture is released in a state in which the other surface is used as a setting surface. The locking mechanism has a construction in which a movable lock member provided in the hinge engages with the lock receptacle of the image reading apparatus upon vertical setting.
Abstract:
A thin transparent media adapter is used when scanning transparent media on a contact image sensor or reduction optics scanner. The adapter uses illumination from a light guide assembly to illuminate a diffuser and the media. A lens assembly is used to focus the light from the media to create an intermediate image between the adapter and the scanner platen glass. The adapter is an optical assembly that forms an intermediate image of the transparent media in the object side focal plane of existing scanner optics. The existing scanner optics can then capture and focus the light from the intermediate image onto the scanner's existing sensor array. The adapter magnetically couples to the scan system to allow the lens array to follow movement of the optical system of the scanner.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes a first running device that moves to scan a document at a predetermined speed, which includes an illumination unit and a first mirror; a second running device that moves in the scanning direction parallel to the first running device with half the predetermined speed of the first running device, which includes second and third mirrors; an imaging lens to produce an reduced image; and a line sensor to convert the reduced image to an electrical signal. At least one of the second and third mirrors is comprised of a spherical surface and a curvature radius of the spherical surface of such mirror is such that a distance deviation between the imaging lens and an imaging surface remains within usable range for actual operation regardless of movements of the first and second running devices.
Abstract:
To provide an image reading apparatus that can be reduced in size in the width direction by making common an ADF conveying reading area and an FBS reading area. An image reading apparatus includes a platen glass having a common reading area in which ADF scanning and FBS operation are configured to be performed.
Abstract:
A Buffer devices and scanners with buffer capability are provided. A buffer device includes a body, a movable component, and an elastic structure. The body includes a groove. The movable component is slidingly disposed in the groove. The elastic structure is connected between the body and the movable component.
Abstract:
The present invention is an improved transparency scanning module, which is applied on a cover of scanning device. The transparency scanning module and the cover can be taken apart for different consuming groups. The features of the invention are that transparency scanning module is embedded in cover, and a slot of cover for holding transparency scanning module is set plural fillisters, and there are plural connectors set on the relative positions of transparency scanning module for connecting each other. When the fillisters connecting with the connectors, transparency scanning module is able to offer light and also transparency scanning module and cover are combined and fixed each other closely; on the other hand, rim of transparency scanning module is thinner, and most central part is protruding in z direction, thus transparency scanning module can be inserted and held in the slot of cover. This is another design for closely combination.
