    Abstract: A system comprising: one or more server devices to: set a first network threshold level for determining network congestion in a network; set rate limiting criteria for determining when one or more subscribers will be rate limited; detect an increase in network congestion at a base station above the first network threshold level; identify one or more subscribers meeting one or more of the rate limiting criteria; rate limit network traffic associated with the one or more subscribers; detect a decrease in network congestion at the base station below a second network threshold level; and remove the rate limiting of the network traffic associated with the one or more subscribers.

    Abstract: A system includes an updated network function and a consumer network function. The updated network function includes a recent update and is configured to register at a Network Repository Function (NRF) using a Network Function (profile (NF profile). The NF profile indicates a network function type (NF type) and a first priority associated with the update. The consumer network function is configured to: receive a message from a network component; determine to engage a service of a network function of the NF type based on the message; determine a desired priority for the service; and send a discovery request to the NRF in response to the message; receive a search result from the NRF in response to the discovery request. The search result has a list of candidate network functions of the NF type.

    Abstract: A method for activating bearers in radio access networks includes receiving information regarding channel conditions for a secondary RAT; identifying a first set of radio bearers for a primary RAT and a second set of radio bearers for the secondary RAT based on the received channel conditions; and establishing the first set of radio bearers associated with the primary RAT. The method may also include providing a message to a core network indicating that first set of radio bearers have been established for the primary RAT, the message includes an indication that the second set of radio bearers will be established after the core network has been configured for operation with the first set of radio bearers; reconfiguring a UE for establishing the second set of radio bearers associated with the secondary RAT; and indicating that the reconfiguration of the UE for the second set of radio bearers is complete.

    Abstract: Systems described herein ensure authorized communications between application servers and machine-type communications (MTC) devices. The systems store a subscriber profile for an MTC device, the subscriber profile including application server (AS) configuration information designating application servers that are authorized to connect with the MTC device. The systems receive a non-IP data delivery (NIDD) registration request from an application server, wherein the NIDD registration request includes an identifier for the MTC device. The systems obtain, from the application server, a first identifier for the application server, and retrieve, based on the NIDD registration request, the AS configuration information from the subscriber profile. The systems determine if there is a match between the AS configuration information and the first identifier for the application server, and configure a binding of the application server and an access point name (APN) for the MTC device in response to determining that there is a match.
