Abstract: A valve assembly comprising a rotary closure element which defines an axis of rotation and is selectively movable between a fully open position and a fully closed position. Mounted to and movable with the rotary closure element is an impedance assembly. The impedance assembly defines an inflow end and an outflow end, and comprises a plurality of fluid passageways of varying noise attenuating capability which extend from the inflow end to the outflow end. Also partially defined by the impedance assembly is a flow opening which extends from the inflow end to the outflow end.

Abstract: Disclosed is a rigid annular valve structure comprised of individual green state discs having partial or complete passages formed therein. The series of green state discs are assembled in an axially aligned stack such that the partial passages of adjacent ones of the green state discs cooperate to collectively define a plurality of substantially radial device passageways for fluid flowing therethrough. The disc passages are formed in the discs prior to the assembly into the stack. The assembled green state discs are heated as a unit in order to simultaneously harden the individual green state discs and to fuse the individual green state discs together to form the rigid annular valve structure. After heating, the rigid annular valve structure may be machined to define interior and exterior peripheries and end faces such that the rigid annular valve structure is suitable for use in a valve assembly.

Abstract: A shock proof electrical probe comprises a probe tip, a casing for housing batteries, and a cap, each formed entirely of an electrically nonconductive plastic material. To establish an energizing circuit for the probe, the interior of the casing is provided with an elongated electrically conductive strip which extends longitudinally from contact with a circuit board in the probe tip, to an opposite open end of the casing, where the strip is mounted to the casing so as to bendable into electrical contact with an adjacent battery pole, and bendable in opposite direction to permit selective insertion and removal of the batteries from the casing. The probe further includes a steel carrying clip which is entirely encapsulated in electrically nonconductive plastic material. The probe may be of a noncontacting type, which utilizes an antenna for detecting the presence of an AC voltage, or a contacting type for detecting a the presence of a DC voltage. In either instance, when a voltage is present, a light-emitting diode is energized to produce a glow within the probe tip.

Abstract: A valve body, for use in a valve housing having an inlet and outlet, includes a spherical outer surface. A flow opening extends diametrically from one side of the outer surface to an opposing side. A plurality of flow control passageways extend from the outer surface into the valve body. The valve body is moveable relative to the valve housing between a closed position, a restricted flow position, and a free flow position. In the closed position, the flow opening and all of the plurality of flow control passageways are out of alignment with the inlet and outlet. In the restricted flow position, at least one flow control passageway is moved into fluid communication with the inlet and outlet to facilitate fluid communication therebetween. In the free flow position, the flow opening is moved into fluid communication with the inlet and outlet to facilitate fluid communication therebetween.

Abstract: A control valve includes a valve body and a flow control device having a wall extending around a central axis. A plurality of flow control channels are formed in the wall, with each flow control channel extending in a first direction substantially parallel to the central axis and a second direction substantially perpendicular to the central axis toward an inner surface and terminating between an outer surface and the inner surface at an inner channel surface. A valve plug is moveable relative to the flow control device in a direction substantially parallel to the central axis between a closed position and an open position. Abstract: A flow control device includes a cylindrical body disposed about a primary axis. The cylindrical body includes a primary flow passage extending therethrough. A ball element having an inlet flow passage extending therethrough is pivotable relative to the cylindrical body between an open position and a closed position.
