Abstract: A client receives streaming data according to Moving Picture Experts Group-Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH) standard. The client includes a transmitter which transmits a Media Presentation Description (MPD) request or a segment request to a server, and a receiver which receives an MPD specified in the MPD request and a segment specified in the segment request. The MPD request contains information requesting transmission of an initialization segment by a push. The receiver receives the initialization segment transmitted by the push.

Abstract: A decoding system decodes a video stream, which is encoded video information. The decoding system includes an attribute information acquirer that acquires first attribute information, indicating whether a dynamic range of luminance of the video stream is a first dynamic range or a second dynamic range that is wider than the first dynamic range, and a decoder that acquires the video steam and generates decoded video information. The decoding system also includes an outputter that, in a case where the first attribute information indicates the second dynamic range, outputs the decoded video information and maximum luminance information indicating a maximum luminance of the video stream in accordance with the second dynamic range. Further, in other cases, the outputter outputs the decoded video information and maximum luminance information indicating the maximum luminance of all pictures in the video stream.

Abstract: A recording medium includes a video stream of a standard-luminance range and a video stream of high-luminance range, which are used selectively in accordance with a playback environment. The recording medium also includes a subtitle stream of the standard-luminance range and a subtitle stream of the high-luminance range, which are used selectively in accordance with the playback environment. A playlist file includes a management region where playback control information relating to a main stream is stored, and includes an extended region. The management region stores first playback control information specifying playing of the video stream of the high-luminance range and the subtitle stream of the high-luminance range in combination. The extended region stores second playback control information specifying playing of the video stream of the standard-luminance range and the subtitle stream of the standard-luminance range in combination.

Abstract: An encoder includes memory and circuitry. The circuitry, using the memory, (i) selects a mode from among a plurality of modes each for deriving a motion vector, and derives a motion vector for a current block via the selected mode, and (ii) performs inter prediction encoding on the current block, using the derived motion vector, via one of a skip mode and a non-skip mode different from the skip mode. The plurality of modes include a plurality of first modes each for predicting the motion vector for the current block based on an encoded block neighboring the current block without encoding information indicating a motion vector into a stream. When a second mode included in the plurality of first modes is selected, the current block is encoded via the non-skip mode regardless of presence or absence of a residual coefficient.

Therefore, the broadband content can properly be acquired in response to the reception of the broadcast content.

Abstract: An encoder that encodes a current block in a picture includes circuitry and a memory coupled to the circuitry. The circuitry, in operation: selects at least one transform basis from among candidates for a transform basis which include a basis of a type-II discrete cosine transform (DCT-II) and at least one of a basis of a type-IV discrete cosine transform (DCT-IV) or a basis of a type-IV discrete sine transform (DST-IV); and transforms prediction error values of the current block, using the at least one transform basis selected. When the size of the current block is greater than a threshold size, the circuitry selects at least one transform basis after excluding at least one of the basis of the DCT-IV or the basis of the DST-IV from the candidates. The threshold size is at most half a maximum size to which the DCT-II is applicable.

Abstract: A decoder includes circuitry and memory coupled to the circuitry. The circuitry, in operation, generates a first coefficient value by applying a CCALF (cross component adaptive loop filtering) process to a first reconstructed image sample of a luma component, and clips the first coefficient value. The circuitry generates a second coefficient value by applying an ALF (adaptive loop filtering) process to a second reconstructed image sample of a chroma component, and clips the second coefficient value. The circuitry generates a third coefficient value by adding the clipped first coefficient value to the clipped second coefficient value, and decodes a third reconstructed image sample of the chroma component using the third coefficient value.

Abstract: An encoder which codes a moving picture includes: a processor; and a memory, wherein the processor, using the memory: subtracts a prediction image of an image included in the moving picture from the image so as to derive a prediction error; sequentially selects a plurality of transform basis candidates; derives an evaluation value of a transform basis candidate selected; compares the evaluation value with a threshold value; based on a result of the comparison, skips selection of one or more transform basis candidates that have not been selected; determines the transform basis from one or more transform basis candidates selected; performs the transform of the prediction error, using the transform basis; quantizes a result of the transform; and codes a result of the quantization as data of the image.
