    Abstract: Aspects presented herein may enable a receiving device to receive high frequency signals with a simpler receiver to reduce the overall complexity and cost associated with the receiver. In one aspect, an apparatus receives a reference signal from a second wireless device. The apparatus measures amplitude and phase of the reference signal relative to a set point. The apparatus transmits channel flattening information in a precoding feedback to the second wireless device, the precoding feedback including at least a difference between the amplitude of the reference signal and the set point for a sub-band.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for over-the-air digital pre-distortion (DPD) kernel function selection. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes transmitting capability information to a base station (BS), indicating a capability of the UE for performing digital pre-distortion (DPD) training, receiving, based on the capability information, a request from the BS to perform the DPD training, performing, based on the received request, the DPD training, wherein performing the DPD training includes: receiving one or more reference signals (RSs) and selecting, based on the one or more RSs, an ordered set of kernel functions. Additionally, the method may include transmitting feedback information to the BS indicating the ordered set of kernel functions.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless communications system may support inter-band inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) measurement and capability reporting. For example, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a capability message indicating its ability to use low power signal processing in the absence of inter-band interference and its ability to report values associated with inter-band interference measurement. In addition, the UE may transmit, to the base station, a measurement report indicating values associated with inter-band interference and in response, the base station may update communications with the UE to avoid inter-band interference or the base station may coordinate with other base stations to avoid inter-band interference.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for a DPD training procedure. A base station may transmit, for a plurality of iterations, a signal to at least one UE through a plurality of transmit chains and with application of DPD. The signal transmitted for each iteration may be transmitted with a BW that extends over a plurality of subcarriers and includes pilots extending over a BW subset that increases in subcarrier size for each iteration. The base station may receive, for each iteration, feedback from the at least one UE based on the transmitted signal and apply DPD to each of the plurality of transmit chains based on the feedback. Accordingly, the base station may transmit to one or more UEs through the plurality of transmit chains and with application of the DPD pilot signals that extend over the entire BW.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a transmitting device may identify one or more blocks of data for transmission to a receiving device. The transmitting device may map subsets of bits of the one or more blocks of data to a constellation of symbol points of a modulation order to obtain a set of symbols and may then transmit a signal including the set of symbols to a receiving device. In some systems, a receiving device may receive, from the transmitting device, the signal including the set of symbols associated with blocks of data. The receiving device may de-map the set of symbols according to a constellation of symbol points of a modulation order to obtain a plurality of sets of de-mapped data bits and decode a plurality of sets of de-mapped data bits to obtain the blocks of data.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device may reduce a channel overhead of a peak suppression information message (PSIM) by reducing amplitude signaling of clipped peaks of a data signal. To avoid including amplitude information for each clipped peak of a time-domain data signal in a PSIM, the transmitting device may subtract a constant amplitude offset from each peak above a clipping threshold in the time-domain data signal. The transmitting device may indicate the amplitude offset in the PSIM, and a receiving device may reconstruct the data message based on the amplitude offset. In some examples, the transmitting device may indicate a peak to average power ratio (PAPR) in the PSIM, such as a PAPR of a maximum peak in the data signal. Based on the indicated PAPR, the receiving device may perform a calculation to determine the amplitude offset for reconstructing the data message.

    Abstract: In some aspects, a UE may select a first type of antenna for communication with a base station based at least in part on a beam management procedure that uses an RSRP parameter determined using a downlink reference signal associated with a single antenna port; measure a CSI-RS resource for CSF, associated with multiple antenna ports, using a second type of antenna and after selecting the first type of antenna; compare a first spectral efficiency parameter associated with communicating using the first type of antenna and a second spectral efficiency parameter determined based at least in part on measuring the CSI-RS resource for CSF using the second type of antenna; and select one of the first type of antenna or the second type of antenna for subsequent communication with the base station based at least in part on comparing the first spectral efficiency parameter and the second spectral efficiency parameter.
