    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for managing beam failure recovery operations. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) generally includes performing beam failure detection (BFD) of a beam pair link (BPL) associated with a secondary cell (Scell) of a base station (BS), sending a beam failure recovery request (BFRQ) message in another cell of the BS, the BFRQ message including an indication of a candidate recovery beam for the Scell, and starting a timer based on sending the BFRQ.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a base station may identify one or more communication paths to a user equipment (UE), and may determine an end-to-end signal quality for each communication path (e.g., a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)), one or more hop SNR values for each hop of each communication path, a ratio of the hop SNR values and the end-to-end SNR of each communication path, or a combination thereof. Based on the determined SNR values, ratios, or both, the base station may select a first communication path for a first type of communications (e.g., uplink, downlink, signal type, or the like) and a second communication path for a second type of communications (e.g., uplink, downlink, signal type, or the like), and may communicate with the UE using the selected communication paths.

The method includes transmitting a message to a number of user equipments (UEs) over a single frequency network channel using a first beam sweep pattern. The method also includes identifying a second beam sweep pattern from a plurality of beam sweep patterns that is different from the first beam sweep pattern for retransmissions of the message. The method further includes transmitting a retransmission of the message to the plurality of UEs over the single frequency network channel using the second beam sweep pattern.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Repetitions of a reference signal may be transmitted by a first device. In some examples, the repetitions may be quasi-colocated with one another, share an antenna port, or both. The repetitions of the reference signal may arrive at a reconfigurable surface. The reconfigurable surface may apply a modulation sequence to the repetitions of the reference signal and output modulated repetitions of the reference signal in a direction based on a reflective state of the reconfigurable surface. A signal including the modulated repetitions of the reference signal may be received by a second device and combined with the modulation sequence used by the reconfigurable surface to obtain a combined signal. The combined signal may be used to determine, for the reconfigurable surface, information about a channel between the first device and the second device.

A communication device, for example, a user equipment (UE) may select a default beam to use for downlink communication while operating in a full duplex mode. The UE may receive from another communication device, for example, a base station control signaling indicating the default beam for the UE to use for the downlink communication. A default beam (which may also be referred to as a full duplex beam) may be a default downlink beam or a default uplink beam. In some examples, the UE may select a default beam pair to use for downlink communication and uplink communication while operating in the full duplex mode. A default beam pair (which may also be referred to as a full duplex beam pair) may include both a default downlink beam and a default uplink beam.

    Abstract: In an aspect, the present disclosure includes a method, apparatus, and non-transitory computer readable medium for wireless communications for a donor node to provide a resource pattern over an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) backhaul. The aspect may include determining, at a central unit (CU) of the donor node, a configuration of a resource pattern for a plurality of IAB-nodes of an IAB network, wherein the configuration of the resource pattern includes a base resource pattern configured with a base periodicity of one or more slots and a plurality of distributed unit (DU) slot format indices within the base periodicity. The aspect may include transmitting, by the CU of the donor node, the resource pattern to one or more of the plurality of IAB-nodes of the IAB network.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to assisting communications with low data payloads with relay nodes. An example method generally includes forming a first cluster with a first wireless node and one or more second wireless nodes, wherein each of the second wireless nodes has a low data rate demand relative to a system bandwidth. The method also includes determining to serve as a relay node for the first cluster, generating a first set of packets for uplink transmission to a base station, receiving a second set of packets from the one or more second wireless nodes, combining the first set of packets and the second set of packets into an uplink payload based on the determination, and transmitting, to the base station, the uplink payload based on the determination.

    Abstract: A network node (e.g., base station, user equipment (UE)) in a wireless communication network may not be aware of the presence and/or availability of assisting nodes deployed in a wireless communication network to assist the network node. The aspects described herein include a method of wireless communication for an apparatus (e.g., an assisting node). The apparatus transmits an availability signal to enable discovery of the apparatus and indicate an availability of the apparatus to assist at least one network node. The availability signal includes an identifier of the apparatus. The apparatus relays at least one wireless communication between the at least one network node and a network entity.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device may receive an indication of a subcarrier spacing (SCS) for communications in a plurality of transmission time intervals (TTIs), where a TTI include a set of symbols, a corresponding set of cyclic prefixes, and a padding duration. The device may receive a control signal indicating a configuration for the padding duration, at least a portion of which may be reallocated as one or more additional symbols with corresponding one or more additional cyclic prefixes. In some examples, the one or more additional cyclic prefixes and at least a first portion of the set of cyclic prefixes may be reduced in duration in comparison with a remaining portion of the set of cyclic prefixes. The device may communicate during the padding duration using the one or more additional symbols and the corresponding one or more additional cyclic prefixes.
