    摘要: A two stage brake actuation system including a push rod, a first actuator coupled to the push rod, and a second actuator. The first actuator may apply a first force to the push rod to move it between a brake clearance position and a brake adjacent position. The second actuator may apply a second force to the push rod to move it between the brake adjacent position and a brake applied position. The first actuator may be a large displacement, low force actuator, and the second actuator may be a small displacement, high force actuator. A method for braking a vehicle by applying a first force to a push rod to move it a first distance from a brake clearance to a brake adjacent position, and applying a second force to the push rod to move it a second distance from the brake adjacent to a brake applied position.

    摘要: An air dryer assembly with manifold system provides increased drying capacity for pressurized air systems, such as vehicle braking systems. A manifold connected to the supply ports of two adjacent air dryers allows parallel flow of air through the separate air dryers. An identical manifold connects to the delivery ports of the two air dryers to combine the clean, dry air from the delivery ports. Similar manifolds connect the control and purge ports of the dryers to allow simultaneous regeneration of the desiccant canisters. An assembly combining two air dryers, two pretreatment units, and manifolds connecting the supply, delivery, control, and purge ports of two air dryers is also disclosed.

    摘要: A pneumatic brake actuator has a housing and a divider that divides the housing into a spring chamber containing a spring and a pressure chamber. The divider has an opening that receives an end of an actuator tube. A bearing that is positioned within the opening in the divider is joined to both the divider and the actuator tube. A caging bolt has a first end positioned within the actuator tube and extends from the first end through openings in the hearing and housing to a second end positioned outside of the housing. The connection between the bearing, divider and actuator tube contains the spring within the housing in the event that the housing and/or divider fails. The divider can be a piston or a diaphragm and pressure plate. The bearing can be joined to either of the divider and actuator tube with threads and/or by welding.

    摘要: An air dryer with a rotor and desiccant positioned within an interior chamber of the rotor. The desiccant is positioned within the interior chamber of the rotor between the inlet and the outlet. The desiccant is configured to adsorb at least some of the water contained within air flowing from an inlet to an outlet of the rotor. As the rotor is rotated at a regeneration speed at least some of the water adsorbed by the desiccant moves to the outer surface of the desiccant and at least some of the water is separated from the outer surface of the desiccant. The rotor directs water separated from the outer surface of the desiccant to at least one opening in the rotor. A method for drying air by sending the air through desiccant and rotating the desiccant at a regeneration speed to separate water from the desiccant.
