    摘要: Centering device 14 of a bill validator comprises a pair of pinch jaws 15 positioned on the opposite sides of a passageway 6, and a centering motor 30 for moving pinch jaws 15 toward and away from each other for reciprocation of pinch jaws 15 so that pinch jaws 15 come into contact with side edges of a bill between pinch jaws 15 to align a central line of bill with a central line of passageway 6. As centering motor 30 stalls when warpage resistance by centered bill is greater than inherent holding torque of centering motor 30, centering device 14 has the simplified structure with reduced number of structural components for light weight and reliable centering operation.

    摘要: A device is provided for continuously and concentrically transporting documents of different width through a passageway at a high speed. The device comprises a pair of opposed rollers 131 rotatably mounted on the opposite sides of a passageway 11 to grasp the opposite sides of a bill 70 between rotators 131, 132. At the moment of grasp between rollers 131, a central line C of bill 70 is automatically brought into alignment with a central line G of front passageway 11, and at the same time, bill 70 is grasped by opposed rollers 131 rotating in the adverse directions each other so that rotational force of rollers 131 applied to bill 70 serves to flip bill 70 to the rear of passageway 11.

    摘要: A document photosensor is provided which comprises upper and lower sensor assemblies 1 and 2 disposed on opposite sides of a passageway 55 along which a document 50 is transported. Upper sensor assembly 1 comprises an upper substrate 11, an upper LED chip 21 surface-mounted on upper substrate 11 and an upper PD chip 37 surface-mounted on upper substrate 11. Lower sensor assembly 2 comprises a lower substrate 12, a lower LED chip 31 surface-mounted on lower substrate 12 and a lower PD chip 38 surface-mounted on lower substrate 12. These chips 21, 37, 31 and 38 are secured at precise locations on upper and lower substrates 11 and 12 with accuracy on the order of a few micrometers or less to exactly detect by upper and lower PD chips 37, 38 lights irradiated from upper and lower LED chips 21 and 31 after penetration of these lights through particular points on a bill 50 moved along passageway 55 to improve validation performance of bill 50.

Inactive condition of self-holding circuit 5 during the disuse period, saves electric power to extend service life and exchange cycle of battery 1.

    摘要: An optical sensing device for detecting plural optical features of valuable papers is provided that comprises first and second photocouplers 5 and 6 or 9 and 10 positioned in the vicinity of and on the opposite sides of a passageway 13 for guiding the valuable paper 64. Each of first and second photocouplers 5 and 6 or 9 and 10 has a light emitting element 20, 22, 30, 32 for emitting a light, and a light receiving element 21, 23, 31, 33 for selectively receiving the light from the light emitting element 20 so that each light receiving element 21, 23, 31, 33 can receive lights reflected on and penetrating the valuable paper 64 for detection of multiple optical features from the valuable paper 64. Thus, the optical sensing device can derive plural optical scanning patterns by means of less number of light emitting and receiving elements to improve accuracy in valuable paper validation; can pick out optical patterns for different colors printed on valuable paper by means of plural lights of different wavelength irradiated on a same scan line or area on valuable paper; and can utilize inexpensive light emitting and receiving elements to reduce cost for manufacture.

    摘要: A valuable paper is provided which comprises on a surface of the paper 50 a characteristic pattern 51 detectable by a sensor 16 of a validator 10 to discriminate authenticity of a bill inserted into the validator 10. The bill has at least a distinctive portion detectable by the sensor 16. The paper 50 has its width W substantially same as the width of the bill. The characteristic pattern 51 of the paper 50 is formed on substantially same position in width W as that of the distinctive portion in the bill. The paper 50 is inserted into the validator 10 to detect the characteristic pattern 51 of the paper 50 by the sensor 16 for discrimination of the paper 50 by the validator 10.

    摘要: A shutter unit 17 of a bill validator comprises a blocking member 18 movable between an interceptive position for closing the through hole 74 of the shutter unit 17 and a release position away from the through hole 74 for allowing passage of the bill through the through hole 74 into a slot 13 of the validating unit 20; a control unit 48 movable between an inactive position for barring movement of the blocking member 18 to the release position and an operative position for allowing movement of the blocking member 18 to the release position; and an actuator 50 for shifting the control unit 48 between the inactive and operative positions. When the blocking member 18 is forcibly moved to the release position in an unauthorized manner, the control unit 48 in the inactive position effectively inhibits and resists movement of the blocking member 18 to the release position.
