Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for analyzing one or more samples for the presence, amount or identity of one or more target molecules in the samples, comprising one or more capture sites whereby the device comprises a gas evolving means. The gas evolved by the gas evolving means moves unbound target molecules away from the capture site and therefore helps to increase the efficacy of the analysis.
Abstract:
Physical barriers (210) are present between neighboring pixels (200) on a circuit substrate (100) of an active-matrix display device, such as an electroluminescent display formed with LEDs (25) of organic semiconductor materials. The invention forms at least parts of the barriers (210) with metal or other electrically-conductive material (240) that is insulated (40) from the LEDs but connected to the circuitry (4, 5, 6, 9, 140, 150, 160, T1, T2, Tm, Tg, Ch etc.) within the substrate (100). This conductive barrier material (240) may back up or replace, for example, matrix addressing lines (150) and/or form an additional component either within the pixel array or outside. The additional component comprising the conductive barrier material (240) is advantageously a capacitor (Ch), or an inductor (L) or transformer (W), or even an aerial.
Abstract:
Physical barriers (210) are present between neighbouring pixels (200) on a circuit substrate (100) of an active-matrix electroluminescent display device, particularly with LEDs (25) of organic semiconductor materials. The invention forms these barriers (210) with metal or other electrically-conductive material (240) that serves as an interconnection between a first circuit element (21, 4, 5, 6, 140, 150, 160, T1, T2, Tm, Tg, Ch) of the circuit substrate and a second circuit element (400, 400s, 23), for example, a sensor (400s) of a sensor array supported over the pixel array. The conductive barrier material (240) is insulated (40) at the sides of the barriers adjacent to the LEDs and has an un-insulated top connection area (240t) at which the second circuit element is connected to the conductive barrier material (240).
Abstract:
A temporary memory of a computer system is configured during a boot mode. Page tables are generated for the temporary memory. System memory of the computer system is initialized. Contents of the temporary memory are migrated to the system memory.
Abstract:
Secure variable/image storage and access schemes for storing data in non-volatile stores. Firmware-based interfaces are provided to support secure storage of data, such as asset management data and executable images, on platforms in a manner that prevents access to any entity other than the principle that originally stored the data. In one embodiment, an extension to the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) variable storage scheme is disclosed. In another embodiment, a management chip that is not present on the platform is emulated by firmware such that the management chip appears to be present to entities accessing a third-party storage area of a non-volatile store.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, computer system is disclosed. The computer system includes a central processing unit (CPU) to simultaneously operate a trusted environment and an untrusted environment and a chipset coupled to the CPU. The chipset includes an interface to couple to a management agent, and protected registers having a bit to indicate if the management agent is provided access to resources within the trusted environment
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and system enable sequestered partitions on a device. A scheduler may allocate resources to each of the sequestered partitions and dynamically reallocate the resources from one partition to another, as necessary.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for casting metal strip by controlling the distance between the confining side plates confining the casting pool and the outer nozzle ends of discrete nozzle pieces of the delivery nozzle delivering the molten melt. The nozzle pieces defining the outer nozzle ends may be moved and control separately from the position of the confining plates, or with the position of the confining plates, by a nozzle delivery drive. The distance between the outer nozzle ends and the confining plates may be set before casting and maintained during casting with wear and thermal expansion of the confining plates, nozzle pieces, or both, or varied during the casting operation, to inhibit the formation of skulls in the casting pool and the formation of “snake eggs” in the cast strip.
Abstract:
A method to Suspend-and-Resume across various operational environment contexts is disclosed. An environmental context is saved in a disk partition corresponding to the saved environment. The system is suspended. Upon resume, a selected environmental context is selected for boot or resume. This method of switching contexts may also be used for trusted execution, manageability, and other purposes.
Abstract:
Apparatus for continuously casting metal strip comprises a pair of parallel casting rolls (16). In use of the apparatus molten metal is delivered between the casting rolls which are rotated to deliver cast strip product downwardly from the rolls. Casting rolls (16) are mounted on a roll module (13) installed in and removable from the caster as a unit. Module (13) is movable horizontally from a stand-by position to an intermediate position beneath a casting position of the rolls and can be hoisted from the intermediate position by operation of hoists (71) to lift the rolls (16) into their casting position.
