Abstract: Data relating to the status of a vehicle, an internal combustion engine powering the vehicle, and various filtration systems that provide filtered fluid to the vehicle and/or internal combustion engine is generated or gathered by an engine control module and a filtration monitoring system. The engine control module and the filtration monitoring system provide the data to a telematics system for transmitting the data to a remote data center (e.g., a cloud computing system, a remote diagnostics system, a maintenance system, etc.). Depending on an availability of a cellular data connection, the data is either sent directly to the remote data center via a network, or indirectly by first transmitting the data over a local connection to an operator device (e.g., a smartphone), which then sends the data to the remote data center once a connection to the network is available.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining, using service component authenticity detection contained in a sensor module, whether an authorized or genuine service component element is installed in an automotive system are described. The authorized service component determination may be based on close-range communication technology such as radio frequency identification (“RFID”) technology. An antenna in the sensor module may read the tag information from installed service component elements in a nearby service component and send any detected information into a filtration monitoring system. The filtration monitoring system or a remote diagnostic system analyzes the returned data (or absence thereof) to determine if a genuine (i.e., authorized, OEM approved, etc.) service component element is installed or not.

Abstract: Various embodiments relate to a filter element. The filter element includes a first endplate that defines a first endplate opening and a second endplate. Filter media is positioned between and extending axially between the first endplate and the second endplate. The filter media defines a central opening extending axially therein. A support structure is disposed within the central opening of the filter media and is attached to the first endplate and the second endplate. The support structure includes an axial lobed extension that extends from a first end of the support structure to a second end of the support structure. The support structure is configured to resist collapse of the filter element.

Abstract: Various example embodiments relate to a filtration system. The filtration system comprises a housing having a first housing end and a second housing end. The housing defines a central compartment therein. The housing comprises a first alignment portion disposed on the first housing end. The filtration system further comprises a filter element positioned within the central compartment of the housing. The filter element has a first filter end and a second filter end. The filter element comprises filter media and a second alignment portion disposed on the first filter end. The second alignment portion is complementary to the first alignment portion. The installation of the filter element within the housing causes the first alignment surface and the second alignment surface to align to provide for engagement of a radial seal between the filter element and the housing.

Abstract: Filter media having generally tetrahedral shaped flow channels is described. The filter media is generally formed by a flat filter sheet and a formed sheet. The formed sheet may be formed by a curves and/or pleats in the sheet. The curves and/or pleats form the tetrahedron channels. Embossments, such as dimples, are provided on the crests formed by the curves and/or pleats. The embossments help to maintain spacing between adjacent layers of the filter media, thereby increasing dust holding capacity and decreasing pressure drop over similarly configured filter media not having the embossments.

Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to perforated filter media and coalescing filter elements utilizing perforated filter media. One example coalescing filter element is structured to separate a dispersed phase from a continuous phase of a mixture. The filter media includes a first coalescing layer. The first coalescing layer includes a first filter media. The first filter media has a plurality of pores and a first perforation. Each of the plurality of pores is smaller than the first perforation. The first perforation is formed in the first filter media and extends through the first filter media. The plurality of pores are structured to capture a portion of the dispersed phase. The first perforation is structured to facilitate the transmission of coalesced drops of the dispersed phase through the first coalescing layer such that the coalesced drops of the dispersed phase are separated from the portion of the dispersed phase captured in the first coalescing layer.

Abstract: A filter assembly includes a housing defining unfiltered and filtered cavities, a coolant inlet, and a coolant outlet. The filter assembly further includes a stop valve movable between a stop valve closed position and a stop valve open position and an anti-drain valve movable between an anti-drain valve closed position and an anti-drain valve open position. The coolant inlet is in fluid communication with the unfiltered cavity when the stop valve body is in the stop valve open position. The coolant outlet is in fluid communication with the filtered cavity when the anti-drain valve body is in the anti-drain valve open position. A filter cartridge includes a bottom endplate having a rib with a rib end face engaging with the stop valve to move the stop valve body from the stop valve closed position to the stop valve open position when the filter cartridge is positioned within the housing.
