Abstract: An internal combustion engine monitoring system can include a fluid filter disposed between at least one fluid inlet of the internal combustion engine and at least one of a fluid source or an ambient fluid environment. At least one fluid sensor arranged can be arranged to detect a plurality of indications of respective fluid pressures on first and second sides of the fluid filter at a plurality of corresponding engine operating conditions. The indications can be compared with their corresponding operating conditions to assess a condition of the fluid filter and estimate a lifetime thereof.

Abstract: A contamination prompt structure for a filter medium may comprise a filter element and a prompt assembly. The prompt assembly may have a movable part. One end of the movable part may be in communication with one of a water inlet of the filter element, or a water outlet of the filter element, and the other end of the movable part may be in communication with the other one of the water inlet of the filter element, the water outlet of the filter element, or outside air. When the filter element is in a contaminated state, a rise of pressure at the water inlet or a drop of pressure at the water outlet may drive the movable part to move to send a prompt for a user to replace the filter element.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide a filtration assembly. The filtration assembly includes a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, first and second flow lines positioned fluidly between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet, a differential pressure sensor, and a controller. The first flow line includes a first canister filter, a first filter housing, and a first valve configured to move between a closed position and an open position. The second flow line includes a second canister filter, a second filter housing, and a second valve configured to move between a closed position and an open position. The controller is configured to receive, from the differential pressure sensor, a differential pressure value, and when the differential pressure value is greater than a threshold value, generate a signal to one of the first and second valves to close the respective valve.

Abstract: A system can include a filter assembly with a filter and a substance in the filter assembly, and at least one optical computing device having an integrated computational element which receives electromagnetic radiation from the substance. A method can include receiving electromagnetic radiation from a substance in a filter assembly, the electromagnetic radiation from the substance being received by at least one optical computing device having an integrated computational element, and the receiving being performed while a filter is positioned in the filter assembly. A detector may receive electromagnetic radiation from the integrated computational element and produce an output correlated to a characteristic of the substance. A mitigation technique may be selected, based on the detector output.

Abstract: A filter base for receiving a complementary mating filter housing assembly. The filter base includes a base platform having fluid ingress and egress stanchions, and a wire harness assembly including a connector housing integral with or connected to the base platform for establishing an electrical connection between the filter base and the filter housing assembly. The wire harness assembly includes conductors extending between first and second connectors, with one or more resilient contacts provided on the second connector. The connector housing has an upper surface and an oppositely facing lower surface and is dimensioned to receive a first end portion of the one or more contacts. The contacts are flexible from a first position to a second position when a mating portion of the one or more contacts engages a mating connection surface of the filter housing assembly. The mating connection surface may be a circuit pad of a printed circuit board, wherein the contact mating portions are configured to be positioned in mechanical and electrical engagement with the circuit pads when the filter housing assembly is received within the filter base.
