摘要: A mechanism to export user equipment (UE) and/or bearer state information from a E-UTRAN Node B (eNB) mobility management entity (MME) and combine this state information with globally recognizable identifiers for the UE and/or bearer. The state information is collected by an external server and provided to application service providers (ASPs) and wireless service providers (WSP) to more effectively deliver content to the UE by adjusting throughput. The mechanism involves only a single query to the MME, for every UE and/or bearer, as opposed to one inquiry for every state information update on a per UE and/or per bearer basis, in order to not overwhelm network traffic.

摘要: A metric of cell congestion is determined using an average physical resource block rate that is expected to be allocated for a very active user equipment bearer that is a persistent average rate. The average physical resource block rate is mapped to congestion levels and this information is exported to an application function or a radio access network function in order to mitigate congestion. An average bearer throughput for the user equipment can be calculated based on the average physical resource block rate.

摘要: The present invention provides a method of data path switching. Embodiments of the method include transmitting a packet from a node in a communication system during hand off of a mobile node from a source access network to a target access network. The packet includes an end marker that indicates that the packet is the last packet to be transmitted during the hand off over a source link between the mobile node and an anchor node via the source access network during the hand off. Embodiments of the method also include switching, at the node, a transmission data path from the source link to a target link between the mobile node and the anchor node via the target access network following transmission of the packet including the end marker.

摘要: A video server or other processing device obtains availability information for a wireless network and modifies a manner in which video segments of a video service are delivered to a user device over the wireless network based on the obtained availability information. The availability information may comprise at least one of network congestion measurement information and transmission pricing information. In an illustrative embodiment, the processing device comprises a video server configured to utilize the availability information to generate a list of video segments available for transmission for at least a portion of the video service, to provide the list of video segments to the user device responsive to a request received from the user device, to receive an additional request from the user device for at least one particular video segment identified in the list, and to provide the requested at least one video segment to the user device.

摘要: The present invention provides methods of inter-technology handoff of a multi-mode mobile unit in a packet-switched communication system. One embodiment of the method includes establishing a call from a first application layer client in the first mobile unit using a first wireless communication link that operates according to a first wireless access technology. The method also includes sending, in response to detecting changing conditions of the first wireless communication link, a request to form a conference call including the first application layer client and inviting a second application layer client in the first mobile unit to join the conference call. The second application layer client uses a second wireless communication link that operates according to a second wireless access technology. The method further includes handing off the call from the first application layer client to the second application layer client.

摘要: Embodiments of the claimed subject matter provide a method and apparatus for switching between multicast/broadcast and unicast service. Some embodiments of the method include determining a number of first users in a first cell receiving one or more first sessions for unicasting content in response to a second user in the first cell requesting the content. Some embodiments of the method also include assigning the first and second users to a second session for broadcasting or multicasting time-aligned content in response to the number of first users being larger than a threshold.
