Abstract:
A gaming system comprising: a display; a symbol selector arranged to select a plurality of symbols from a set of symbols for display in a display area on the display; a plural special symbol determiner arranged to determine whether a plural special symbol representing a number (N) of special symbols is to be activated; a symbol modifier arranged to operate in response to a determination that a plural special symbol is to be activated so as to modify display of at least one symbol selected by the symbol selector so that the symbols displayed in the display area after modification include N singular special symbols; and an outcome generator arranged to determine a game outcome based on the displayed symbols as modified by the symbol modifier.
Abstract:
Improvements to a method for flowing variable data, such as text data, image data, bar code data, and the like, into a path of a template defined by a PDL specification in a high-speed printing operation.

Abstract:
A downhole tool 100 includes a closure seat 116, 176 for seating with a closure, such as a ball. Shear pins or other connectors temporarily limit axial movement of the closure seat which is initially housed within a restricted diameter portion of the central throughbore in the tool body. The closure seat may be lowered to engage a stop 108, 157, thereby positioning the seat within an enlarged diameter bore portion of the tool and allowing radial expansion of a closure seat to release the ball.
Abstract:
A document storage system comprising at least one server (200) holding at least one electronic document. The system also comprises a document reception means arranged to receive an electronic document (300,302), a quality control means to facilitate quality control checks (304) of the electronic document, access means (106,108) to provide access to the server (200). Further, the system comprises a search means allowing an electronic document to be located and a terminal means (100) allowing users to connect to a server (200), locate an electronic document with the search means, and to receive that document. The system may be used to store electronic documents relating to hire vehicles.
Abstract:
A circuit for transmitting logic signals across a high voltage barrier has a logic signal buffer with true and complement state differential outputs. A binary flip-flop with set and reset inputs is further provided. A first coupling capacitor is coupled to the true buffer output and to the set input of the binary flip-flop. A second coupling capacitor is coupled to the complement buffer output and to the reset input of the binary flip-flop circuit.
Abstract:
The process of collecting trades is done every ten minutes by pulling an updated file from the FCM. The file comes in varying formats from the FCM's worked with. Each line of the file represents a fill and it is sent though custom mapping code to convert to a common data structure. With the data in a consistent format, the system sends the symbol through a database conversion differing by FCM. Due to each clearing firm presenting a different code for the same Futures/Options symbol this process is required. Additionally once the symbol is determined one of currently four price format conversions is required. After the format is converted the decimal point must be adjusted to bring the price to its actual decimal form. Trader's Hedge then checks the data in numerous other ways to ensure its accuracy, including, acceptable trading month for the symbol, acceptable price increment for future or option, acceptable price given the day's trading range, valid account number available in the system. Once all checks are passed the fill is entered into the system. This process is repeated with each fill and thusly each FCM registered active in the system.
Abstract:
A method for starting up an olefin production plant without venting gases to the atmosphere wherein an artificial feed is employed in the compression zone of the plant while the furnace and quench zones remain idle, and gases from the compression and refrigeration zones of the plant are recycled to the inlet of the compression zone during startup, after which the furnace and quench zones are started up using natural feed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a composition for treating a bacterial biofilm, comprising a first bacteriophage that is capable of infecting a bacterium within said biofilm, and a first polysaccharide lyase enzyme that is capable of degrading a polysaccharide within said biofilm. The composition preferably further comprises a pharmaceutically-acceptable antimicrobial agent, and may also include a DNase. Also provided are modified bacteriophages, methods of creating modified bacteriophages, use of said compositions and bacteriophage for treating biofilms, and methods for treating biofilms using the bacteriophages and compositions of the invention.
Abstract:
An interactive method includes receiving, at a display device, background video including a multiplicity of video frames, at least one of the multiplicity of video frames including a plurality of sub-pictures, each of the plurality of sub-pictures representing an alternative background, and switching, at the display device, between a first sub-picture of the plurality of sub-pictures and a second sub-picture of the plurality of sub-pictures. Related apparatus and methods are also disclosed.
