A key/value pair is added to the manifest file specification to allow an application to determine information about the sub-element composition of a Java Bean. The key provides a unique integer “N” which allows the specification of a Java Bean in the archive file. The value pair provides specification for a tag for indicating the type of a specific sub-element file in the archive file.

A gated optical amplifier for a PON includes an input for receiving an optical signal to be amplified, an output for outputting and amplified optical signal, an optical amplifier device for amplifying an optical input thereto, a detector, and an optical switch for allowing the amplified optical signal to leave the output upon the detector detecting the presence of an optical signal of a predetermined magnitude.
Abstract:
An inflatable wrap for promoting venous or arterial blood flow enhancement in the human hand. The wrap comprises an inflatable bag fastened to a backing material. The bag is shaped to fit against the palm of the hand and portions of the back of the hand. The backing material comprises a base portion substantially corresponding to the palm of the hand and two or more interengageable lobes that may be fastened together across the back of the hand to retain the inflatable bag securely against the hand such that upon inflation of the bag a pumping pressure is applied positively to the hand to promote the venous or arterial flow enhancement.

A motor coach designed generally for highway travel has a passenger compartment between sides of the coach and forwardly of the rear wall of the coach and defined above a raised floor of the coach. Underneath the floor is provided an engine compartment behind the rear wheels of the coach and luggage compartment forward of the rear wheels. A lavatory compartment is located at the junction between the rear wall and one side wall and immediately forwardly of the lavatory compartment is provided a floor area on which the rear seats at that side of the coach can be moved forwardly to a stored position to form an open area of the coach aligned with a wheel chair lift mounted in the engine compartment and arranged to lift a passenger from the ground onto the floor of the coach into the area forwardly of the lavatory compartment. The lavatory compartment is modified by a double door arrangement so that the doorway at the front of the lavatory compartment can be partly opened for ambulatory passengers or fully opened for the wheelchair passenger on the floor area immediately forward of the lavatory compartment. A curtain is provided to enclose the lavatory compartment and the floor area for privacy of the wheelchair passenger when the doors are fully opened.

The prop headboard is used to support an inflatable grout bag on the head of an elongate prop. The headboard has a timber frame which presents a planar support surface suitable for supporting the inflatable grout bag. Bag-retaining flaps made of flexible fabric material extend from opposite edges of the headboard. These flaps are folded over the grout bag and serve to centralise it on the headboard and to restrain it from rolling out sideways during inflation and thereafter. The invention also concerns a prop system in which the headboard is used, and a method of supporting a hanging wall in a mine working.

A toy stunt set which can be used to form a loop and ramps for use during play with toy vehicles. Two tower members with engaging grooves are mounted on top of a base. A frame with flexible sheet pieces is positioned between the tower members. A rod at the end of a flexible member can be inserted into the grooves in order to form a loop and ramps. Toy vehicles may be rolled onto the loop and ramps and through the frame and flexible pieces. The flexible member can be used by itself to form individual ramps. A tumble member may be connected near the end of the flexible member so that the toy vehicles will flip after rolling onto the loop or ramps.

The invention relates to the production of oxygenated organic compounds comprising alcohols, aldehydes, ethers and salts of carboxylic acids. Prior art processes for the production of ethanol in particular involve the use of elevated temperatures and pressures. Milder conditions can be used in the process of the invention in which either a mercury compound of formula (R.sup.1 OCHR.sup.2 CHR.sup.3 Hg).sub.n X (I), wherein X is an organic or inorganic anion, n is an integer equal to the valency of the anion, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group and R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or the group --(--CHR.sup.2 CHR.sup.3 Hg).sub.n X, or the precursors of the compound (I), with a catalyst comprising a complex containing a metal of Group VIII, particularly rhodium, in the presence of a liquid reagent containing an active acidic hydrogen atom. A semi-dump level indicator comprising an electrical system including a pair of mercury switches mounted on the rear portion of the trailer. The switches are closed when the trailer is level. When the trailer is dangerously tilted gravity causes one of the switches to open which de-energizes a relay closing a warning light and alarm buzzer circuit in parallel with the circuit having the mercury switches to warn the operator not to raise the trailer.

The invention relates to apparatus for generating electrical signals representing the instantaneous position and attitude of an object with reference to a coordinate system. A pair of wave transmitters are mounted and controlled so that they follow any movement of the object and are arranged to transmit ultrasonic pulses to three planar transducers arranged to convert the received energy into signals representative of the instantaneous position and attitude of the two transmitters relative to the three transducers. The invention is particularly applicable to apparatus for the ultrasonic examination of bodies having non-planar surfaces and in this case the object referred to is the ultrasonic probe designed to transmit wave energy into the body. The probe may be mounted with one or two degrees of rotational freedom on a boom which is itself mounted with at least two degrees of rotational freedom on a vertical column. The echoes received from the body may be used to modulate the beam of a cathode-ray tube display system, while the electrical signals from the three transducers are used to deflect the cathode-ray beam. The signals are passed through a display selection system and possibly through one or more coordinate transformation networks. In the simplest case, the display selection system selects the signals relating to two axes and displays these signals as viewed along the third axis of the coordinate system.
