    摘要: An axially bored valve body having inlet and exhaust ports is provided with a valve movable toward and away from a sealed position in the inlet port at its pressure connected end. A cap closes the end of the body opposite its inlet port. An axially collapsible member is axially interposed between the downstream end of the valve stem and the cap to normally maintain the fluid passageway between the ports closed. Excessive fluid pressure against the valve at the inlet port collapses the collapsible member and unseats the valve to open the fluid passageway.

    摘要: In a choke valve having flow restricting stages for controlling fluid under relatively high pressure, a rising stem axially moves a valve toward and away from a valve seat opening and closing a fluid passageway through the valve. A plurality of superposed flow restriction members, each closely surrounding the valve stem and having a recess loosely surrounding the valve stem, are disposed on the upstream side of the valve seat. Slots, formed in the valve stem wall, mate and mismate with the flow restriction recesses in response to axial movement of the valve stem and control fluid under relatively high differential pressure across the valve.

    摘要: In a plunger-type oil well pipe float valve assembly permitting well fluid flow in a downward direction by a valve stem supported valve seating and unseating on a valve seat, the valve stem reciprocates in a stationary valve stem guide sleeve which supports one end portion of a coiled expansion spring surrounding the valve stem and seated at its other end on a spring retainer adjacent the valve which normally biases the valve closed. Extensions are formed on the confronting end surfaces of the spring retainer and valve stem guide sleeve for interdigitated engagement when fluid flow in a downward direction biases the valve open for preventing fluid stream induced angular rotation of the valve and its stem relative to the valve stem guide sleeve.

    摘要: A valve body, having a lateral exhaust port, is provided with a valve movable toward and away from a fluid inlet sealing face at its pressure connected end and guided by a valve stem projecting through the other end of the body. A plurality of rupture bands, extending transversely across the outwardly projecting end of the valve stem, are connected with the body for normally maintaining the valve closed. Excessive fluid pressure against the valve ruptures the bands and releases pressure through the lateral port.

    摘要: A protective cap assembly for a pressurized valve adapted to detect a leak therethrough. In accordance with various embodiments, the cap assembly includes a body adapted for placement in fluid communication with the valve, and a sensory indicator supported by the cap assembly body to provide human sensory indication of pressurized fluid leaking from the valve in its closed position. In various embodiments, the sensory indicator can be a whistle that makes an audible sound, a light emitting device that emits a visible light, or both. In further embodiments, the cap assembly body can be coupled to the vent conduit via a tether, and ejected responsive to exhausted pressurized fluid when the valve transitions to the open position. The displaced cap assembly body serves as a visual indication that the valve has opened.

    摘要: Apparatus for controlling a pressurized fluid. In accordance with some embodiments, a valve assembly includes a piston moved between closed and open positions. A sealing member is disposed within an annular recess of the piston and characterized as an endless annular ring extending about a central axis of the piston. The sealing member has an elongated circle cross-sectional shape when the sealing member is in an uncompressed state prior to installation in said recess. The cross-sectional shape is defined by parallel top and bottom surfaces having a length L in a direction perpendicular to and intersecting the central axis, and having opposing inner and outer surfaces of a radius R, the inner and outer surfaces respectively facing toward and facing away from the central axis, and wherein the dimensional value of L is at least five times greater than the dimensional value of R.
