    Abstract: An improved spring latch is made of three components including a housing and a pawl serving as a latch which is adapted to nest within the housing. A single coil spring is positioned between a portion of the housing and a pocket formed in the pawl to pivot the pawl into a latching position. Tabs preformed in the housing serve as the pivot axis for the pawl. Portions of the pawl and the housing cooperatively engage to limit the rotational or pivotal travel of the pawl relative to the housing.

    Abstract: A degating machine to remove the gate from cast articles where the articles having their gates thereon are loaded into a hopper and are fed therefrom onto a sectional conveyor leading to the top of a series of rollers in a wringer arrangement, so that the articles in passing through the rollers are tumbled and degated without damage. The articles and separated gates drop from the rollers onto the top of a pair of metal shafts angled toward the floor and spaced apart sufficiently to allow the gates to drop therethrough; the degated articles riding on the shafts to the ends where they drop into a collection pan.

    Abstract: A method of retaining a rotary plug within the cylinder of a lock cylinder assembly where the lock cylinder has a cylindrical opening extending therethrough to receive a cylindrical plug having a stop only at the rear end thereof to align the holes or slots in the plug with the corresponding holes or slots in the cylinder. With the key removed, the tumblers biased across the shear line between the plug and cylinder retain the plug in the cylinder and, when the key is inserted into the plug to align the ends of the tumblers with the shear line and release the plug, a stop on the key extending beyond the plug''s diameter to engage the cylinder face prevents rearward movement of the plug in the cylinder.
