    摘要: A voltage booster circuit for additively increasing the d-c operating current and voltage of the subscriber lines of telephone systems. Current gating circuitry senses the current through each conductor of the subscriber line and controls the connections of d-c voltage detecting circuitry thereto in accordance with the magnitude and direction of that current flow. The d-c voltage detecting circuitry, in turn, controls the insertion and removal of d-c boost voltage sources into and from the subscriber line, in accordance with the magnitude and the polarity of the d-c voltage which the central office applies to the subscriber line. The circuit is adapted to allow accurate measurements to be made on the subscriber line without disconnecting the voltage booster circuit from the subscriber line.

    摘要: A circuit for preventing the disconnection of PBX calls from a PBX in the presence of open circuits at ESS central offices. A switching network is adapted to assume a first operative state to establish a direct metallic connection between a central office and a PBX during the transmission therebetween of normal switching, signalling and talking currents such as dialing and ringing. The switching network is also adapted to assume a second operative state to apply battery potential and ground to the PBX to simulate a closed circuit condition to a PBX call in the presence of open circuits at the central office. Novel sensing circuitry is provided to distinguish between the central office and PBX conditions under which operation of the switching network in the first state is desirable and the central office and PBX conditions under which operation of the switching network in the second state is desirable, thus assuring that under certain conditions lost calls are prevented without interfering with normal telephone system operations.

    摘要: A machine for stripping the insulation from the end of an electrical conductor. An insulated conductor is placed between first and second cutter blades each having a size and shape suitable for use with the size of conductor being stripped and between first and second gripping jaws. Cam followers are attached to each cutter blade and each gripping jaw. A control member having a tapered end and a cylindrical body is longitudinally driven against the followers. The cutter blades are arranged to travel inwardly to sever an end section of the insulation when the followers associated therewith are in moving contact with the tapered end of the control member and to trap the severed end section of the insulation when the followers are in contact with the cylindrical body of the control member. The gripping jaws are arranged to grip the conductor with increasing pressure when the followers associated therewith are in moving contact with the tapered end of the control member. As the latter followers travel along the taper, the gripping jaws and the conductor held therebetween move with the control member away from the cutter blades to pull the main body of the conductor away from the trapped end section of insulation.

    摘要: A tool for fastening a wire-bearing terminal pin to terminal lug. A drive member is slidably mounted in a tube having a longitudinal opening in the tube wall at one end thereof. A terminal pin having a wire crimped thereto is pushed into the end of the tube until the tip of the terminal pin touches the tip of the drive member. As this occurs, the wire passes through the longitudinal opening and is deflected away from the tip of the terminal pin thus to clear the path of movement of the drive member, this being accomplished by a deflecting surface at the tip of the drive member. The end of the loaded tube is slipped over the companion terminal lug until the contact between the flat end of the tube and the mounting surface of the terminal lug orients the longitudinal axis of the tube along the longitudinal axis of the terminal lug. This allows the end of the drive member to pushingly engage the tip of the terminal pin while the contact between the terminal pin and the tube wall prevents the application of a lateral force to either the terminal pin or the terminal lug. The longitudinal movement of the drive member forces the terminal pin substantially longitudinally into intimate electrical contact with the terminal lug. As the tool is removed, the terminal pin passes through the end of the tube and the wire passes through the longitudinal opening in the wall thereof.

A plurality of oscillator circuits, having feedback windings coupled to respective outputs, supply firing pulses to respective thyristors. The order in which the different oscillator circuits are caused to produce firing pulses is controlled by a multistate switching circuit. The feedback winding of the energized oscillator circuit disables all other oscillator circuits to prevent simultaneous application of firing pulses to more than one thyristor during the time when the multistate switching circuit is changing states.
