Abstract:
Aluminoxane compositions derived from aluminoxane source, halogen source, and Lewis base are provided. Such compositions are useful for activating catalysts for olefin polymerization.
Abstract:
A new ionic compound is provided that is derived from N,N-dimethylaniline and pentafluorophenol in amounts such that there are at least 2 equivalents of pentafluorophenol per equivalent of the N,N-dimethylaniline.
Abstract:
Single-site catalyst activator compositions are provided, said activator compositions comprising anion/cation ion pair wherein; (a) the anion comprises a metal atom bonded via hetero atoms to a chelating organic ligand, and (b) the cation comprises a Bronsted acid.
Abstract:
A catalyst system useful to polymerize and co-polymerize polar and non-polar olefin monomers is formed by in situ reduction with a reducing agent of a catalyst precursor comprising {Cp*MRR′n}+{A}− wherein Cp* is a cyclopentadienyl or substituted cyclopentadienyl moiety; M is an early transition metal; R is a C1–C20 hydrocarbyl; R′ are independently selected from hydride, C1–C20 hydrocarbyl, SiR″3, NR″2, OR″, SR″, GeR″3, SnR″3, and C═C-containing groups (R″=C1–C10 hydrocarbyl); n is an integer selected to balance the oxidation state of M; and A is a suitable non-coordinating anionic cocatalyst or precursor. This catalyst system may form stereoregular olefin polymers including syndiotactic polymers of styrene and methylmethacrylate and isotactic copolymers of polar and nonpolar olefin monomers such as methylmethacrylate and styrene.
Abstract:
Compositions useful for activating catalysts for olefin polymerization, and methods for making same, are provided. Such compositions can be derived from at least: an organoaluminum compound, a carrier, an oxygen source, and, optionally, a Lewis base.
Abstract:
This invention provides activator precursor compositions and activator compositions. The activator precursor compositions are formed from a support material, an organoaluminum compound, and polyfunctional compounds having at least two aromatic groups in which at least two of said aromatic groups each has at least one polar moiety thereon. The activator compositions are formed from a support material, an organoaluminum compound, an aluminoxane, and a polyfunctional compound having at least two aromatic groups in which at least two of said aromatic groups each has at least one polar moiety thereon. Also provided are catalyst compositions, processes for forming catalyst compositions, and polymerization processes utilizing the catalyst compositions of this invention.
