Each pixel includes a drive transistor whose source or drain being connected to a power supply terminal, a display element including a pixel electrode, a counter electrode connected to a second power supply terminal, and an active layer interposed therebetween, and a switching transistor. The drive transistor and the switching transistor are connected in series between the power supply terminal and the pixel electrode in this order. In each pixel, a semiconductor layer in which the source and drain of the drive transistor are formed and a semiconductor layer in which source and drain of the first switching transistor are formed are joined together.
