Abstract:
The subject invention relates to a system and method for video summarization, and more specifically to a system for segmenting and classifying data from a video in order to create a summary video that preserves and summarizes relevant content. In one embodiment, the system first extracts appearance, motion, and audio features from a video in order to create video segments corresponding to the extracted features. The video segments are then classified as dynamic or static depending on the appearance-based and motion-based features extracted from each video segment. The classified video segments are then grouped into clusters to eliminate redundant content. Select video segments from each cluster are selected as summary segments, and the summary segments are compiled to form a summary video. The parameters for any of the steps in the summarization of the video can be altered so that a user can adapt the system to any type of video, although the system is designed to summarize unstructured videos where the content is unknown. In another aspect, audio features can also be used to further summarize video with certain audio properties.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention introduce a novel technique to analyze and monitor video streams captured from multiple cameras. It highlights the foreground region of the video streams via local alpha blending and displays the videos in an immersive 3-D environment. The spatial arrangement of the displays can be generated by multi-dimensional scaling of the amount of simultaneous motion across different video streams. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention. Other features, aspects, and objects of the invention can be obtained from a review of the specification, the figures, and the claims.
Abstract:
Techniques segmenting ordered information such as audio, video and text are provided by windowing and parameterizing an ordered information stream and storing of the parameterized and windowed information into a two-dimensional representation such as a matrix. The similarity between the parameter vectors is determined and an orthogonal matrix decomposition such as singular value decomposition is applied to the similarity matrix. The singular values or eigenvalues of the resulting decomposition indicate major components or segments of the ordered information. The boundaries of the major components may be determined using the determined singular vectors to provide, for example, smart cut-and-paste of ordered information in which boundaries are automatically identified by the singular vectors; automatic categorization and retrieval of ordered information and automatic summarization of ordered information.
Abstract:
A stream of ordered information, such as, for example, audio, video and/or text data, can be windowed and parameterized. A similarity between the parameterized and windowed stream of ordered information can be determined, and a probabilistic decomposition or probabilistic matrix factorization, such as non-negative matrix factorization, can be applied to the similarity matrix. The component matrices resulting from the decomposition indicate major components or segments of the ordered information. Excerpts can then be extracted from the stream of ordered information based on the component matrices to generate a summary of the stream of ordered information.

Abstract:
Data organizing systems and methods organize a plurality of data files using meta data or other data relating to a plurality of data files by extracting the related data for at least some of the data files, organizing the extracted related data and dividing at least some of the data files into groups based on the extracted related data and an input parameter value.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for discriminatively selecting keyframes that are representative of segments of a source digital media and at the same time distinguishable from other keyframes representing other segments of the digital media. The method and system, in one embodiment, includes pre-processing the source digital media to obtain feature vectors for frames of the media. Discriminatively selecting a keyframe as a representative for each segment of a source digital media wherein said discriminative selection includes determining a similarity measure for each candidate keyframe and determining a dis-similarity measure for each candidate keyframe and selecting the keyframe with the highest goodness value computing from the similarity and dis-similarity measures.
Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention there is provided a bi-stable oscillator circuit for detecting a load imparted to a surface. The bi-stable oscillator comprises an electrical amplifier, at least one resonator comprising an electrical transducer having a resonant frequency, a surface of the resonator forming the surface on which the load is to be detected and an impedance network having a resonant frequency. The resonator is arranged to be exposed to an environment under test, and the resonator and the impedance network are connected in parallel with the electrical amplifier such that when a load imparted to the surface exceeds a pre-determined threshold value the oscillator circuit oscillates at the resonant frequency of the impedance network and when a load imparted to the surface is less than the threshold value the oscillator circuit oscillates at the resonant frequency of the resonator, switching of the circuit oscillation frequency being indicative of the load crossing the predetermined threshold value.
Abstract:
Using Near Field Communications (NFC) to provision a User Equipment (UE) with Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) data for accessing a wireless services provider's network. An NFC gesture initiates an NFC link between an NFC device and a UE containing NFC circuitry. The NFC link is used to transmit SIM data stored in a memory of the NFC device to the UE. The SIM data is received by the UE and stored in a memory of a SIM module in the UE. Thereafter, the SIM data is used to access the wireless network and obtain communication services therefrom.
