Abstract:
In one aspect, the invention relates to a method of making an emulsion composition. The method includes forming a water-in-oil emulsion and adding a galvanic particulate to the water-in-oil emulsion. In another aspect, a water-in oil emulsion is provided. The water-in-oil emulsion includes a water phase emulsified in a continuous oil phase; and a galvanic particulate. The oil-in water emulsion has a yield stress of at least about 20 Pascals (Pa).
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for the in situ formation of cross-linked organosiloxane films are disclosed. The disclosed films are long-lasting, flexible, transfer-resistant, water-resistant and oil-resistant. The film-forming compositions generally comprise alkoxy-terminated organosiloxane polymers and a catalyst and are useful for formulating cosmetics and personal care products.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a skin care composition, such as a color cosmetic, comprising an active ingredient that imparts an undesirable color to the composition, at least one inorganic pigment that comprises at least 60 weight percent titanium dioxide, at least one lake pigment, and at least one interference pigment.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods are disclosed for imparting super-hydrophobic properties to cosmetics, which can be used to significantly improve water repellency compared to traditional cosmetics. The compositions comprise a hydrophobic film former, and hydrophobic particles, in an emulsion base.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for the formation of physically cross-linked thermoplastic elastomeric films are disclosed. The disclosed films are long-lasting, flexible, transfer resistant, and water-proof. The film-forming compositions comprise a thermoplastic elastomer, a tackifier resin, and a volatile solvent useful for formulating cosmetics, personal care products, and pharmaceutical compositions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to topical compositions comprising inorganic particles coated or embedded on the surface of macroscopic particles, methods of preparing the compositions, and uses thereof. The topical composition may be delivered and applied to a surface, thereby improving the appearance of the surface. This composition can reduce the visibility of textural imperfections, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and scars, as well as color imperfections, such as age spots and blemishes. The treatment of inorganic particles on the surface of macroscopic particles can be achieved by three methods, including mechanofusion, physical adsorption, and pre-emulsification into macroscopic particles. This invention also relates to methods of using the composition in a cosmetic or dermatological application, as well as, in an industrial application.
Abstract:
Compositions for altering the color of teeth, including tooth-coating compositions comprising a colorant and an acrylate polymer. Colorants among those useful herein include whiteness-imparting particulate materials, such as hydroxyapatite.
Abstract:
Oral care compositions comprising: a) an oral care active; and b) an acrylic film forming polymer. In various embodiments, such polymers comprise monomeric units such as acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylates, and combinations thereof. In one embodiment, the film forming polymer comprises a copolymer of a first monomeric unit selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, and combinations thereof, with a second monomeric unit selected from the group consisting of acrylates, acrylamides, acetates, and combinations thereof. In various embodiments, the polymer is a terpolymer comprising a combination of the second monomeric units. Preferably, the composition additionally comprises a lower alcohol, such as ethanol. In various embodiments, the oral care active comprises a whitening material, such as a peroxide.
Abstract:
Described herein is a cosmetic composition comprising a mixture of metal oxide pigments having different shapes and sizes which provides high coverage and a natural look upon application.
Abstract:
A composite comprising a silicone compound sorbed onto a porous cross-linked polymer. This composition can be included in an oral care composition and inhibit bacterial adhesion on an oral surface.
