Abstract: The invention relates to environmentally friendly flame retardant nucleating compositions, and corresponding formulations and processes useful for the production of polystyrene foams with low densities and a very low halogen content in the final product. The flame retardant composition according to the present invention achieves good flame retardancy and excellent recycling performances, with about the same loading of traditional halogenated compound, which does not affect the process and the physical and mechanical properties of the final foam and can be considered halogen free, according to some international standards.

Abstract: A asphalt binder modifier or a stand-alone asphalt binder and the method of making the asphalt binder or binder modifier are disclosed. The asphalt modifier or binder consisting of treated re-refined engine oil bottoms/VTB's treated by injecting air into re-refining engine oil bottoms/VTB's at temperatures between 150° F. and 550° F. The re-refined engine oil can be processed with ground tire rubber. The binder modifier was blended with various paving and roofing asphalts to form performance-enhanced modified asphalt binders used in paving, roofing, and industrial products.

Furthermore, the rubber composition comprises 80 phr to 140 phr of silica and 40 phr to 90 phr of a hydrocarbon resin having a glass transition temperature of at least 30° C. and being selected from the group of C5 resins and C5/C9 resins. The present invention is also directed to a tire comprising such a rubber composition.

Abstract: A shingle coating asphalt composition is provided that is produced from a paving grade asphalt. The asphalt composition comprises a paving-grade asphalt that has been modified with one or more polymer additives; and a secondary additive comprising one or more of a viscosity reducing agent, a wax, a salt of a fatty acid ester, and an amide of a fatty acid. The shingle coating asphalt coating composition is used to make a shingle. The shingle includes a substrate, the asphalt, and roofing granules.
