    Abstract: A damper valve assembly for an exhaust system of a vehicle includes a valve housing and a valve flap. The valve housing is adapted to be attached to a pipe of the exhaust system and defines an opening. The valve flap is rotatable relative to the valve housing and about a pivot axis between a first position whereat fluid flow through the opening of the valve housing is restricted and a second position whereat fluid flow through the opening of the valve housing is allowed. The valve flap includes a body and a mass damper. The mass damper is integral with the body and includes a plurality of segments that are folded so that the plurality of segments are in a stacked arrangement.

    Abstract: A damper system for a vehicle is provided that includes an outer tube, a piston rod, and a piston assembly that is mounted to the piston rod and separates the outer tube into first and second working chambers. A valve assembly, mounted to the piston assembly, controls fluid flow between the first and second working chambers. A magnetic rotor is fixed to and extends annularly about the outer tube. A stator assembly is coupled to the piston rod by a spherical bearing assembly. The stator assembly includes a plurality of coils that apply an active damping force to the piston rod when energized. The coils can also generate electricity from axial movements of the piston rod relative to the outer tube. One or more glide bearings are disposed radially between the coils and the magnetic rotor in a sliding fit to stabilize the stator assembly.

    Abstract: An exhaust gas heat recovery system includes a housing, a heat exchanger and a valve assembly. The valve assembly is disposed within the housing and includes a monolithic valve body, a moveable valve plate and a rotatable valve shaft. The valve body includes a bore, a valve seat surrounding the bore and trunnions integrally formed with the valve seat. The trunnions are diametrically opposed to each other and laterally extending outside of the housing. The valve plate coupled for rotation with the valve shaft between a first position allowing exhaust gas flow through the bore and the first exhaust gas passageway, and a second position allowing exhaust gas flow through the second exhaust gas passageway and preventing exhaust gas flow through the bore and the first exhaust gas passageway. The valve shaft being supported for rotation by the trunnions.

    Abstract: An exhaust gas heat recovery system includes a housing assembly, a valve assembly and a heat exchanger. The valve assembly is disposed within the housing assembly and includes a shaft and a plate. The plate is rotatable between a first position whereat exhaust gas flow through a first fluid passageway is allowed and exhaust gas flow through a second exhaust gas passageway is prevented, and a second position whereat exhaust gas flow through the second fluid passageway is allowed and exhaust gas flow through the first gas passageway is prevented. The heat exchanger assembly includes a heater core having a working fluid circulating therein. The working fluid is in thermal communication with fluid in the heater core. The housing assembly includes first and second shells attached to each other at a joint. An axis of the shaft being at the joint of the first and second shells.

    Abstract: An exhaust after-treatment system that is configured to treat an exhaust produced by an engine, and includes a bypass passage including an inlet for receiving an amount of the exhaust from an exhaust passage. A first exhaust treatment component is located within the bypass passage, and a valve is located proximate the bypass passage that is configured to control the amount of the exhaust that enters the inlet of the bypass passage. A second exhaust treatment component is located in the exhaust passage downstream from the inlet of the bypass passage, wherein an outlet of the bypass passage communicates the exhaust treated by the first exhaust treatment component back to the exhaust passage at a location that is downstream from the second exhaust treatment component such that the exhaust treated by the first exhaust treatment component does not interact with the second exhaust treatment component.

    Abstract: A damper system for a vehicle is provided that includes including a pressure tube, a piston rod, and a piston assembly that is mounted to the piston rod and separates the pressure tube into first and second working chambers. A valve assembly, mounted to the piston assembly, controls fluid flow between the first and second working chambers. A frequency dependent damper assembly, coupled to the piston rod at a position below the piston assembly, includes a plunger sleeve that is longitudinally moveable to transmit an adaptive force to a valve assembly. A plunger travel limiter, positioned longitudinally between the frequency dependent damper assembly and the valve assembly, contacts the plunger sleeve and prevents the plunger sleeve from moving further towards the piston assembly to limit the magnitude of the adaptive force applied to the valve assembly.

    Abstract: An injector for injecting a reagent includes a first injector body and a second injector body. The first injector body includes an outlet opening. The second injector body includes a reagent tube. The second injector body is movable relative to the first injector body. The injector further includes a valve assembly at least partly enclosed by the first injector body. The valve assembly is configured to selectively dispense the reagent through the outlet opening of the first injector body. The injector further includes a spring member positioned between the first injector body and the second injector body. The spring member is pre-loaded to bias the second injector body towards the first injector body. The spring member is further configured to limit a maximum movement of the second injector body relative to the first injector body in response to expansion of the reagent during freezing.

    Abstract: An exhaust aftertreatment system includes a pump configured to circulate a reagent, an injector configured to deliver the reagent into an exhaust stream, a sensor configured to (i) measure an operating parameter of the aftertreatment system and (ii) output a signal that indicates a value of the measured operating parameter, and a control module configured to control the injector based on the signal outputted by the sensor. The control module includes a correction coefficient determination module configured to generate a correction coefficient based on the signal outputted by the sensor. The control module further includes an injector control module configured to receive an injector flow control signal, determine a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal based on at least the injector flow control signal, and generate an injector control signal that controls actuation of the injector based on at least the correction coefficient and the PWM signal.
