    摘要: An aircraft storage battery is monitored to determine battery capacity, state of charge and certain fault conditions. The ambient temperature, battery voltage on-board charger output voltage and current to and from the battery are continuously measured. Current voltage (I-V) data is analyzed to determine the internal resistance and polarization of the battery. A determination is made regarding state of charge and fault conditions produced by corroded terminals and low electrolyte level. The low temperature starting limit is determined by comparing the battery's power output capability with starting power requirements of the aircraft. Data produced by the comparison are indicated on the dashboard of the vehicle.

    摘要: A vehicle storage battery is monitored to determine battery capacity, state of charge and certain fault conditions.     摘要: In accordance with various embodiments, there is a method for determining the capacity of a battery. Various embodiments include applying a predetermined current ramp to a fully charged lead-acid battery while measuring a battery terminal voltage. An Iup can be determined, where the Iup is a transition from charging to overcharging. A specific gravity of the lead-acid battery can also be determined. The capacity of the lead-acid battery can then be determined from the Iup using a correlation function that describes the relationship of the Iup to the capacity, where the correlation function depends on the specific gravity of the lead-acid battery.

    摘要: A method and apparatus (FIG. 1) for optimizing recharging of batteries (20) in an electric or hybrid vehicle that uses an electric motor (35) powered by the batteries (20) and having a regenerative system (10) that uses mechanical forces of the vehicle to generate current to recharge the batteries. The output of the regenerative system is controlled (15 and 35) to supply a maximum amount of current to recharge the batteries immediately after termination of a pulse or continuous discharge thereby to recapture a larger portion of the discharge current (FIG. 3) and the battery voltage is monitored (35) during recharge and the voltage is controlled (15) during charge so that it does not exceed a predetermined value at which battery gas evolution takes place (FIG. 2), thereby permitting the battery to be charged to a relatively high state of charge.

The system measures the values of battery temperature, voltage and current flow into and out of the battery. This data is multiplexed into a computer and the battery's internal resistance (IR), polarization resistance (PR), state of charge (SOC) and its cold cranking amp (CCA) capability are computed and displayed. The presence of shorted and mismatched cells also can be determined and displayed. The state of health of the battery is related to these displayed measured values and calculated factors which are made known to the user of the battery.
