    摘要: A process and an apparatus for producing a preform for plastic optical fiber having a refractive index distribution in which the refractive index is gradually decreased from the center of the preform toward the outer periphery thereof, by depositing a deposition layer comprising a polymer A (refractive index: N.sub.a) and a refractive index modifier having a refractive index different from that of the polymer A onto a surface of a rod member rotating about an axis thereof, by use of vapor-phase deposition based on a CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process, or a coating process. A plastic optical fiber preform comprising deposition layers having a gradually decreasing refractive index distribution is formed by changing the mixing ratio between the polymer A and the refractive index modifier constituting the deposition layer.

The flame-retardant composition contains at least a matrix polymer such as an olefin resin, a phenolic antioxidant having tert-butyl groups in positions 2 and 6 of a hydroxyl group, and a flame retardant that is a pulverized natural mineral containing magnesium hydroxide as the main ingredient, and the iron oxide concentration in the flame retardant is 1000 ppm or less. The covered electric wire uses the flame-retardant composition as a covering material.

    摘要: A flame retardant capable of improving cold resistance and manufacturability of a flame-retardant composition containing itself, and a flame-retardant composition and an insulated wire including the same. A flame retardant is prepared by subjecting an aggregation prepared by aggregating particles mainly consisting of magnesium hydroxide made from magnesium chloride contained in seawater to surface treatment using a surface treatment agent containing an organic polymer. The organic polymer is an olefin resin such as polyethylene and polypropylene. The organic polymer is a resin having a low melt viscosity or a low melting point, and specifically a resin having a melt viscosity of 1000 mPa·s or less at 140° C., or having a melting point of 100° C. or less. The flame-retardant composition contains the flame retardant and a matrix polymer. The insulated wire is prepared by covering a conductor with the composition.

    摘要: An insulated wire and a wiring harness possessing sufficient flame retardancy and wear resistance superior to a conventional insulated wire.An insulated wire includes a conductor, and an insulator made up of multiple layers which covers the conductor, wherein the outermost layer is made from a resin composition containing a flame retardant, and the innermost layer is made from a resin composition containing a smaller flame retardant than in the outermost layer or no flame retardant. The outermost and innermost layers preferably contain respectively 30-250 parts by mass of the flame retardant and 5-50 parts by mass of the flame retardant to 100 parts by mass of the respective resin ingredients. The innermost layer has a thickness preferably ½ or less than the insulator, while the insulator has a thickness of preferably 0.5 mm or less. A wiring harness includes the insulated wire.

    摘要: A flame retardant that is arranged to improve the cold resistance and the productivity of a composition, a flame-retardant composition, an insulated wire, a wiring harness, and a method for manufacturing the flame-retardant composition. The flame retardant includes a pulverized natural mineral which is mainly composed of magnesium hydroxide, wherein the pulverized natural mineral is surface-treated with an organic high polymer such as polyolefin. The amount of surface treatment is within a range of 0.1 to 10 mass %. The flame-retardant composition includes 30 to 250 parts by mass of the flame retardant with respect to 100 parts by mass of an organic high polymer such as polyolefin. The insulated wire includes a conductor and the flame-retardant composition which covers the conductor, and the wiring harness includes the insulated wire.

The functional group is preferably one or more sorts of groups selected from a carboxylic acid group, an acid anhydrous group, an epoxy group, a hydroxyl group, an amino group, an alkenyl cyclic imino ether group, and a silane group.
