    摘要: An adjustable paddle (A) is disclosed which includes an adjustable joint (C) which allows for two handle sections (14, 16) to be fitted together in a desired axial and rotational positions to fix the length of paddle (A) and the relative blade angle settings of blades (18, 20). The adjustable joint includes three concentric shafts (22, 24, 28; and 62, 64, 66) to provide a more rigid joint which is generally wobble-free. Preferably, the concentric shafts are fixed together by a compression lock (30). The compression lock includes an annular compression member (32) and beveled edges (38, 58, 70) affixed on the first handle section and a complimentary beveled surface (34a) on compression nut (34). Tightening of the compression nut forces compression member (32) about the shaft of the second handle section to fit the handle sections together in the desired axial and rotational position. Additionally, a cam lock (26) may also be utilized to alternately lock the handle sections together.

    摘要: A kayak (10) is an elongated hull (12) having a hull interior (20) and an upper hull portion in which a cockpit (18) is formed for accomodating a boater in a seated position. A perimeter hull flange (22) is formed in the upper hull portion of the kayak defining a deck opening (24). A detachable pod deck (26) is carried in the deck opening. A cockpit rim (30) is formed in the pod deck defining a cockpit opening (32). A pod compartment (27) is carried in the hull interior below the pod deck generally closed and isolated from the hull interior. A cockpit seat (34) is carried in the pod compartment in which a boater may be seated. Attachment for attaching and sealing the pod deck and the upper hull portion together in an integral manner during normal kayak operation includes a retaining band (54, 94) and a sealing ring (60) sealing between hull and said pod deck against the entry of water. The attachment is releasable to allow said pod deck to be detached in an emergency to facilitate removal of said pod deck and compartment.

    摘要: An open pit kayak (10) is illustrated having an open cockpit (A) in which a boater (22) sits. The boater is effectively interbraced in the open cockpit by foot braces (38), thigh braces (68), and a rear hip brace surface (60) against which the boater braces himself during boating. The thigh brace (38) includes a pair of wing members (70) and (72) which extend over an open-cockpit deck (30) at a position above the deck so that the legs of the boater may be received in the thigh braces. The thigh braces extend from side support and thrust extension (64) and (66) of the cockpit which extend vertically on opposing sides of the cockpit. The wing members extend inwardly toward the center of the open cockpit and terminate to define a space (90) in which the boater's legs may be received for engagement underneath the thigh braces. The open cockpit includes a cockpit deck (30), a lower cockpit floor (34), and a cockpit seat (54) which is below the level of the cockpit deck (30) and includes contoured surfaces for supporting and interlocking the buttocks of a person during boating.

    摘要: This invention is directed to a firearm safety device that has a chamber block for being received in a chamber of a firearm. An internal area is defined in the chamber block and can receive a bullet so that the bullet biases the outer walls outward. A visual indicator is attached to a distal end of the chamber block and is received in the bore of the barrel and extending outward past the muzzle providing a visual indication that the firearm is in a safe condition. In one embodiment, the chamber block can be inserted into the muzzle and the visual indicator extends through the barrel and chamber and out of the ejection port of magazine well. The visual indicator can be modifiable in length to accommodate various lengths of barrels and can be flexible.

    摘要: A spray skirt (A) is disclosed for covering the cockpit opening (14) of a kayak (10). The spray skirt includes a fabric cover (24) for spanning the opening which includes an elastic band (B) secured around the perimeter of the cover for retaining the spray skirt about a rim (16) of the opening. The retaining band includes outer and inner elastic bands (30, 32) joined by a compressible bulbous retention element (34, 40). The inner band 32 is of sufficient width to prevent contact of the interior fabric (24b) of the cover from being abraded by lip contact. The preformed outer band (30) includes a first outer band (30a) extending from the bulbous element upwardly and outwardly terminating at a bend (35), and a second outer band (30b) extending from the bend upwardly and inwardly. The first outer band fits under the rim and the second outer band extends over rim and substantially inward over the exterior cover surface to protect the exterior cover surface from abrasion against the rim when hit by the paddle and the like. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the bulbous element 40 is utilized and has a wall thickness greater than the wall thickness of outer band 42. Preferably, the wall of thickness of the bulbous element is about twice as thick as the wall thickness of the outer band.
