Abstract: An image processing application performs improved face exposure correction on an input image. The image processing application receives an input image having a face and ascertains a median luminance associated with a face region corresponding to the face. The image processing application determines whether the median luminance is less than a threshold luminance. If the median luminance is less than the threshold luminance, the application computes weights based on a spatial distance parameter and a similarity parameter associated with the median chrominance of the face region. The image processing application then computes a corrected luminance using the weights and applies the corrected luminance to the input image. The image processing application can also perform improved face color correction by utilizing stylization-induced shifts in skin tone color to control how aggressively stylization is applied to an image.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses for constructing three dimensional (3D) surfaces for multi-colored objects. In some aspects, these techniques determine, from a color image and coarse depth information, an illumination model and albedo for a multi-color object. The coarse depth information may then be refined based on the illumination model and combined with the albedo to provide a 3D surface of the multi-color object.

Abstract: Fast intrinsic images techniques are described. In one or more implementations, a combination of local constraints on shading and reflectance and non-local constraints on reflectance are applied to an image to generate a linear system of equations. The linear system of equations can be solved to generate a reflectance intrinsic image and a shading intrinsic image for the image. In one or more implementations, a multi-scale parallelized iterative solver is used to solve the linear system of equations to generate the reflectance intrinsic image and the shading intrinsic image.
