A correspondence of the displayed information to the offered web application or browser extension is ensured through functionality provided by the web browser. An indication to install the offered web application or browser extension is received from a user, and the web application or browser extension is installed in response to the received indication.

If the permissions match one or more predetermined permissions, then the proposed application is flagged for a manual vetting process before listing the proposed application in the marketplace, and if they do not match, then the proposed application is listed in the marketplace without manual review of the application.

The configuration changes are stored in a local event log on each client, as well as in a synchronization server.
