摘要: Various methods and apparatus for processing audio signals are disclosed herein. The assembly may be attached, adhered, or otherwise embedded into or upon a removable oral appliance to form a hearing aid assembly. Such an oral appliance may be a custom-made device which can enhance and/or optimize received audio signals for vibrational conduction to the user. Received audio signals may be processed to cancel acoustic echo such that undesired sounds received by one or more intra-buccal and/or extra-buccal microphones are eliminated or mitigated. Additionally, a multiband actuation system may be used where two or more transducers each deliver sounds within certain frequencies. Also, the assembly may also utilize the sensation of directionality via the conducted vibrations to emulate directional perception of audio signals received by the user. Another feature may include the ability to vibrationally conduct ancillary audio signals to the user along with primary audio signals.

摘要: An implant is disclosed that reduces wrinkles. The implant may be in the shape of a cylinder with a constant or a varying cross-section and length. The implant contains a gel that has limited flow capability. The implant can also be a balloon that may or may not have multiple compartments. The compartments of the balloon maybe filled with saline, radio contrast agents, or polymeric gel. The gel can contain or not contain radio contrast agents for subsequent imaging of the implant for medical purposes.

摘要: A tracheostomy is performed using an access device and a separate ventilation device. The access device is introduced through a surgical opening in the tracheal wall and has an anchor which is expanded in situ to hold the access device in place. The ventilation device is introduced through a passage in the access device and has an expandable cuff which is oriented above the access point through the tracheal wall. A concavity in the expandable cuff collects body secretions, and other materials from the oral and nasal cavities and/or gastro-intestinal reflux into the trachea, and the collected secretions are removed by aspiration through a lumen provided in the ventilation device. A one-way valve may be provided in the expandable cuff in order to permit exhalation through the larynx to assist in speech.

摘要: Pliers for forming and removing bumps for the dental appliance without heating are disclosed. The eraser pliers for erasing a bump on an appliance include a first elongated member having a first jaw portion at one end and a handle portion at the other end, the jaw portion having flat surface mounted at a distal end of the first jaw portion; and a second elongated member joined to the first elongated member, the second elongated member having a second jaw portion at one end and a second handle portion at the other end, the second jaw portion having a second flat surface mounted at a distal end of the second jaw portion, the first and second flat surfaces adapted to engage and flatten the bump. The pliers for making the bumps include a first elongated member having a first jaw portion at one end and a handle portion at the other end, the jaw portion having a projection mounted at a distal end of the first jaw portion; and a second elongated member joined to the first elongated member, the second elongated member having a second jaw portion at one end and a second handle portion at the other end, the second jaw portion adapted to receive the projection to create the bump in the dental appliance without heating.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for temporarily excluding an aneurysm or an arterio-venous fistula from a flow path by transluminally disposing a hollow balloon catheter structure within the aneurysm so that its proximal and distal ends extend past the aneurysm while maintaining continuity of the flow path, and then injecting a synthetic molding material or a biological hardening agent into the aneurysm cavity to cause solidification of the volume within the cavity. Once the material within the excluded aneurysm has solidified, the balloon catheter structure is deflated and removed, so that the hardened mass forms a new lining for the organ or vessel, and relieves the weakened tissue of the aneurysm or fistula from further flow-induced stress.
