Abstract: A system for evaluating an orthodontic appliance. A mobile telephone for, at an “appliance” instant, acquisition of at least one two-dimensional image (“appliance image”) of teeth at least partially representing the appliance in a service position worn by the teeth, and, at a “dentition” instant, acquisition of at least one two-dimensional image (“dentition image”) of the teeth. A computer programmed to execute, for each of a plurality of teeth represented on the at least one dentition and appliance images, the following: determination of dental and appliance attributes relative to the shape of a tooth represented on the at least one dentition image and relative to the shape of the orthodontic appliance on the at least one appliance image, respectively, and comparison of the dental and appliance attributes, followed by determination of at least a decision or at least one score according to the comparison.

Abstract: A mouth guard includes a tray configured to encompass at least anterior teeth of a dental arch. The tray includes a pair of protrusions extending away from the tray, each protrusion configured to generally overlie a canine of the dental arch. The protrusions are configured to engage one or more anterior teeth of a dental arch, whereby damage to the at least anterior teeth of the dental arch is reduced or prevented.

Abstract: Orthodontic systems and related methods are disclosed for designing and providing improved or more effective tooth moving systems for eliciting a desired tooth movement and/or repositioning teeth into a desired arrangement. Methods and orthodontic systems include the generation of an overcorrection in the tooth-receiving cavities of an appliance worn in the dentition. The overcorrection may provide an improved and more accurately applied force or moment applied to a tooth. The overcorrected force or moment can move a tooth closer to a desired position than if not overcorrected as sufficient force can still applied to the tooth as it gets closer to the desired position. The overcorrected force or moment may also better target the root of the tooth where the biological response to tooth movement occurs. The overcorrection may be calculated in various ways as described herein.
