摘要: There is provided a neck patch to be adhered on a tracheostoma, which is very light and has a good respiratory activity and an excellent sealing behavior when adhered on top of a tracheostoma in the neck of a patient. The neck patch is made of a thin, planar, flexible foil having a thickness of between 5 and 30 μm, which is adhesive on its proximal side only and has a centrically arranged hole on its distal side, and around which a hard, round plastic connector disk having a central recess is arranged, the neck patch further comprising a supporting frame that surrounds the outer edge of the film and is approximately five to ten times thicker than the film so that the neck patch can be positioned without being rolled together.

摘要: Methods, systems and/or apparatus for slowing a patient's breathing by using positive pressure therapy. In certain embodiments, a current interim breathing rate target is set, and periodically the magnitude of a variable pressure waveform that is scaled to the current interim breathing rate target is increased if the patient's breathing rate is greater than the interim breathing rate target in order to lengthen the patient's breath duration. The magnitude of the pressure increase may be a function of the difference between the interim breathing rate target and the patient's breathing rate. The interim breathing rate target may be periodically reduced in response to the patient's breathing rate slowing down toward the current interim breathing rate target. The variable pressure waveform cycles from an inhalation phase to an exhalation phase when the patient airflow decreases to a cycle threshold, the cycle threshold being a function of flow versus time within a breath and generally increasing with time. Different interim breathing rate targets have different cycle threshold functions, and the cycle threshold functions allow easier cycling as the interim breathing rate targets decrease. Similarly, the variable pressure waveform triggers from an exhalation phase to an inhalation phase when the patient airflow increases to a trigger threshold, the trigger threshold being a function of flow versus time within a breath and generally decreasing with time. Different interim breathing rate targets have different trigger threshold functions, and the trigger threshold functions allow easier triggering as the interim breathing rate targets decrease.

摘要: The present invention concerns a plaster for attaching a trachestoma valve or the like in connection with a tracheostoma on a person's neck. The plaster comprises a socket and an annular flange, communicating with a central opening of the flange which is connected with a single-coated adhesive tape which extends radially beyond the edge of the flange. The connection includes a first annular joint at or inwardly of the outer periphery of the flange, and a second annular joint located between the outer periphery of the flange and the inner periphery of the flange spaced radially from the first annular joint. A protecting liner covers the adhesive on the tape.

摘要: The embodiments of the present tracheostomy valves include a flexible diaphragm abutting a rib shaped substantially as a flat plate. Opposite the rib, the diaphragm abuts a boss and forms an uninterrupted seal therewith. As the tracheostomized patient inhales, the diaphragm bends about the rib, interrupting the seal and allowing air to flow smoothly into the valve. The features of the various embodiments contribute to a positive seal at all times except during inhalation, and low resistance to airflow through the valve during inhalation.

The breathing protector comprises an inlet and an outlet, such that an air flow in use will pass from the surroundings of the user through said inlet to said outlet, into trachea of said user. The inner housing part, comprising the outlet, a tracheal tube fitting and a support structure extends longitudinally and distally from the tracheal tube fitting. A base plate is arranged in a proximal zone of the tracheal tube fitting, said base plate extending radially outwards from the tracheal tube fitting. The outer housing par, comprising the inlet, forms a cage enclosing the support structure. The filter body is arranged between the support structure and the outer housing part. An assembly tool and an assembly method thereof are also provided.

摘要: A communication and speech enhancement system featuring a first transducer designed to be temporarily affixed to a human such as a hospital patient to convert the audible vibrations of human speech into an electrical signal. The transducer provides this electrical signal to one or more electronic modules which modify and enhance the signal. The enhanced signal may then be amplified and converted back into audible sound by means of a second transducer. A user of the system controls the electronic modules through a user interface. In an embodiment, one or both of the user interface and second transducer feature smooth surfaces amenable to cleaning sterilizing with liquid agents.
