    摘要: An active user interface system includes a gimbal assembly that is configured as a dual-input/single-output differential mechanism. The differential mechanism implements a speed reduction from the inputs of the differential mechanism to the output of the differential mechanism. Speed reduction enables the maximum drive torque that is supplied to the user interface about one rotational axis to be greater than the maximum drive torque that is supplied to the user interface about another, perpendicular axis.

    摘要: Systems and methods are provided for regenerative motor braking. The regenerative braking systems and methods allow the braking torque of a multi-phase motor to be controlled while keeping currents to acceptable levels and without supplying electrical energy back to the voltage source. The regenerative braking systems and methods dissipate energy in the motor windings instead of sending this energy to the voltage source by intelligently switching the low-side switches in the inverter between the ON and OFF states at the commutation frequency while maintaining the high-side switches in the inverter in the OFF state.

    摘要: A multi-redundant motor may be used to implement a relatively small, lightweight redundant actuator assembly package. The motor is implemented as a brushless DC motor and includes N-number of stators and M-number of rotors. Each stator has a plurality of independent stator coils disposed thereon, and N is an integer greater than two. Each permanent magnet rotor is disposed between, and is spaced axially apart from, two of the stators. Each rotor has a plurality of magnetic dipoles disposed thereon, and M is an integer equal to (N−1).

Force inputs to a user interface that is rotatable about two perpendicular axes are reacted in each axis by cantilevered load cells.
