Abstract: A fitting for a swimming pool return line comprising a housing with a cylindrical extension that may be inserted into the return line and an outer end closure in which the main nozzle is swiveled for directional control of surface circulation. A slot in the bottom of the housing is of adjustable size for bottom circulation. The fitting is secured in place by pulling sloping, radial legs toward planar disposition which would bear against the inner surface of the return line.

Abstract: A three-way rotary plug valve comprising upper and lower radial arms carried on top and bottom shafts and supporting an integral arcuate closure member between them. The upper shaft extends through a bearing in the top closure and carries a sector position indicator having an arcuate outer surface which overlies and is coextensive with the arcuate closure sealing surface so that the precise position of the closure is apparent at all times. Marks on the top cover depict the locations of the flow passages and cooperating stop means on the cover and the position indicator prevent complete blockage of the inlet passageway from the pump.

Abstract: This disclosure describes wastewater treatment systems and methods of treating wastewater. In one exemplary method, a wastewater is split into first and second wastewater fractions. The first fraction is delivered to a membrane bioreactor, which may produce an effluent with a low pollutant concentration, and the second fraction is delivered to a biological wastewater treatment system, which may yield a higher pollution concentration yet have a shorter solids retention time. Some implementations of the invention can routinely meet or even exceed pollution discharge standards quite economically during normal operation, yet retain significant flexibility for handling seasonal or sudden variations in the flow rate of wastewater into the system. In select adaptations, waste activated sludge containing heterotrophs, autotrophs, and (optionally) polyphosphate accumulating organisms is delivered from the membrane bioreactor to the biological wastewater treatment system.

Abstract: A two stage float actuated shutoff valve for use in underground fuel storage tanks having a co-axial vapor recovery system utilizes a drop tube co-axially mounted within the storage tank fill pipe. Fuel flowing into the tank is passed through the drop tube which projects downwardly into the interior of the tank to a valve housing located at the lower end of the drop tube. Tubular floats slidably mounted on the drop tube within the tank independently operate pivoted flapper valves to a closed position within the valve housing, a lower float closing one valve flapper to block a major portion of the incoming fuel flow passage when the level of fuel in the storage tank reaches a predetermined first level and a second upper float closing a second flapper to completely close the flow passage when the level of fuel rises to a predetermined level about the first level. A float actuated locking arrangement for preventing inadvertent premature closing of either valve flapper is disclosed.

Abstract: A rotary plug valve having a smooth, cylindrical inner sealing surface between the flow passageways with a grease fitting port opening through it. When the valve plug is turned to an intermediate position in alignment with the grease fitting, a charge of grease may be introduced through the fitting to be confined by a seal ring on the plug.
