Abstract: A system for providing default content enhanced with supplemental content includes processing hardware and a memory storing a software code. The processing hardware executes the software code to receive a content stream including multiple video frames, a first video frame of the multiple video frames including first default content, first supplemental content, and first encoded metadata, and to decode the first encoded metadata of the first video frame to produce first decoded metadata. The processing hardware further executes the software code to select, using the first decoded metadata, at least a first portion of the first supplemental content for use in enhancing the first default content, transfer, using the first decoded metadata, the selected first portion of the first supplemental content to one or more predetermined locations in the first default content to produce an enhanced first video content, and output the enhanced first video content to a display device.

Abstract: A system for illuminating a character for a scene includes a computing platform communicatively coupled to a lighting source and a camera, the computing platform including a hardware processor and a system memory storing a software code. The hardware processor executes the software code to identify a background for the scene, generate, using the lighting source, a simulation of the background on a surface illuminated by the lighting source, and utilize the simulation of the background generated on the surface illuminated by the lighting source to illuminate the character for the scene. The hardware processor also executes the software code to track, using the camera, a plurality of parameters of the camera during recording of an image of the illuminated character and the simulation of the background, and to remove the simulation of the background from the image based on the plurality of parameters of the camera.

Abstract: A systems and methods for compositing real-world video with a virtual object are disclosed. In one embodiment the system includes a processor; and a computer-readable non-transitory storage medium, the medium encoded with instructions that when executed cause the processor to perform operations including receiving video of a video capture region from a camera coupled to an unmanned vehicle; obtaining a map representation of the video capture region; placing the virtual object into the map representation; rendering the video with the virtual object to generate a rendered video; displaying the rendered video; and based on an elevation of the unmanned vehicle, updating the virtual object to transition between a top view of the virtual object and an elevation view or perspective view of the virtual object.

Abstract: In one implementation, a virtual-world simulator includes a computing platform having a hardware processor and a memory storing a software code, a tracking system communicatively coupled to the computing platform, and a projection device communicatively coupled to the computing platform. The hardware processor is configured to execute the software code to obtain a map of a geometry of a real-world venue including the virtual-world simulator, to identify one or more virtual effects for display in the real-world venue, and to use the tracking system to track a moving perspective of one of a user in the real-world venue or a camera in the real-world venue. The hardware processor is further configured to execute the software code to control the projection device to simulate a virtual-world by conforming the identified one or more virtual effects to the geometry of the real-world venue from a present vantage point of the tracked moving perspective.

Abstract: One or more embodiments of the present disclosure include a system for providing dynamic virtual reality ground effects. The system includes a user interface surface and multiple motors coupled to the user interface surface. At least one of the motors is coupled to a virtual reality component of an electronic device. A first motor of the multiple motors is driven by movement of the user interface surface and is used to generate a feedback electrical signal in response to the movement of the user interface surface. A second motor of the multiple motors is driven using the feedback electrical signal.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for presenting visual media on a structure having a plurality of unordered light sources, e.g., fiber optic light sources, light emitting diodes (LEDs), etc. Visual media can be created based on a computer model of the structure. Images of the structure can be analyzed to determine the location of each of the light sources. A lookup table can be generated based on the image analysis, and used to correlate pixels of the visual media to one or more of the actual light sources. A visual media artist or designer need not have prior knowledge of the order/layout of the light sources on the structure in order to create visual media to be presented thereon.

Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for providing event enhancement using augmented reality (AR) effects. In one implementation, such a system includes a computing platform having a hardware processor and a memory storing an AR effect generation software code. The hardware processor is configured to execute the AR effect generation software code to receive a venue description data corresponding to an event venue, to identify the event venue based on the venue description data, and to identify an event scheduled to take place at the event venue. The hardware processor is further configured to execute the AR effect generation software code to generate one or more AR enhancement effect(s) based on the event and the event venue, and to output the AR enhancement effect(s) for rendering on a display of a wearable AR device during the event.

Abstract: Features of the surface of an object of interest captured in a two-dimensional (2D) image are identified and marked for use in point matching to align multiple 2D images and generating a point cloud representative of the surface of the object in a photogrammetry process. The features which represent actual surface features of the object may have their local contrast enhanced to facilitate their identification. Reflections on the surface of the object are suppressed by correlating such reflections with, e.g., light sources, not associated with the object of interest so that during photogrammetry, such reflections can be ignored, resulting in the creation of a 3D model that is an accurate representation of the object of interest. Prior to local contrast enhancement and the suppression of reflection information, identification and isolation of the object of interest can be improved through one or more filtering processes.

Abstract: Systems and methods for displaying object features via an AR device are disclosed. The method may include receiving, from a transmitter, a signal from an object on a movie set. The signal may specify object data. The object may be a prop. The object data may specify one or more features corresponding to the prop. The method may include generating, with the one or more physical computer processors and the one or more AR components, a representation of the one or more features using visual effects to depict at least some of the object data. The method may include displaying, via the AR device, the representation onto a view of the prop.
