Abstract:
An acoustic driver assembly for use with any of a variety of cavitation chamber configurations, including spherical and cylindrical chambers as well as chambers that include at least one flat coupling surface, is provided. The acoustic driver assembly includes at least one transducer, a head mass and a tail mass. The end surface of the head mass is shaped so that only a ring of contact is made between the outer perimeter of the head mass of the driver assembly and the cavitation chamber to which the driver is attached. The area of the contact ring is controlled by shaping its surface.

Abstract:
An electrical connection for communicating between electrical terminals is provided, as is a collar for retaining the cable of such a connection and associated methods. The connection can include a first modular connector engaged to a first electrical terminal of a printer, a second connector engaged to a second terminal, and a cable extending between the first and second connectors. The first terminal of the printer can be configured to communicate via a first plurality of electrical contacts using a USB protocol and via a second plurality of electrical contacts using another protocol. In some cases, a third connector can be provided on the cable such that the first terminal can communicate to the second connector using the first protocol or to the third connector using the second protocol. The collar can be slidably disposed on cables of various configurations and engaged to a terminal to secure one of the connectors on the cable to the terminal. Further, a reinforcement member can be provided to support the cable and/or one or more of the connectors.
Abstract:
A method for synchronizing loads before the injection thereof on a sorting machine, consisting of trays which pass in front of an injection system comprising conveyors for moving the loads towards an injection site, a synchronization conveyor for positioning a load in order to place it on a tray, a device for injecting a load from the synchronization conveyor onto the machine and a cell for detecting the position of the loads at the exit of the synchronization conveyor. When a load passes the cell, the synchronization conveyor and the injection device are reversed and accelerated slightly to a top speed of VAR, so that the load returns to obscure the cell; the reverse movement is maintained until the cell is no longer obscured; and the synchronization conveyor is moved forward and accelerated slightly to a top speed of VAV until the cell is obscured.

A multipurpose tool to facilitate installation of deck construction includes a main body portion having at least one structural feature that defines a plane. At least one flange is coupled to the main body portion and is oriented substantially perpendicular to the plane. The flange may be used to maintain consistent spacing between decking planks during assembly. The tool also may be used to strike lines, space fasteners, maintain baluster spacing, identify distances and angles, and indicate levels.
Abstract:
An air bag system has an array of detectors positioned under the seat material of a vehicle seat upon which a person or mass can be positioned. The array has a plurality of sensor leaves extending from a plurality of sensor branches. The branches extend from a trunk. Each sensor is of the type which predictably changes resistance upon the mechanical deflection thereof. A deflector is positioned to concentrate the deflection forces on the sensor leaf. Each sensor leaf has a substrate with conductive material on one side and a backer on the other. The sensor array output is supplied to a terminal and then to operation means which are connected to arm or disarm an air bag actuator to regulate the operation of the air bag in accordance with the mass such as an occupant or a child car seat on the vehicle seat. Each sensor leaf senses the force of the mass in a segment or quadrant and supplies the signals to a computer which processes and compares to known data to regulate the enabling or disabling of the air bag actuator.
Abstract:
Apparatus and process for dewatering a material web. The apparatus includes at least one pressure chamber formed by at least four substantially parallel rolls, a device arranged to introduce a pressurized gas into the at least one pressure chamber, and the at least four substantially parallel rolls being displaceable relative to one another to change an effective area of the at least one pressure chamber. The material web is guided through the at least one pressure chamber. The process includes pressurizing at least one pressure chamber with a gas medium, guiding the material web through the pressure chamber, driving water out of the material web using gas pressure within the at least one pressure chamber, and changing an effective area of the pressure chamber so as to adjust a dewatering capacity.
