Abstract: A Yankee drier including a cylindrical mantle to which two end heads are connected, on each of which a corresponding pin is arranged, wherein the cylindrical mantle has an external surface and an internal surface, and wherein the internal surface of the mantle in cooperation with the lateral heads delimits an internal chamber of the Yankee drier in which steam can be introduced. The internal surface of the mantle is at least partially provided with a surface protective coating, the surface protective coating protecting the internal surface of the mantle from corrosive and/or abrasive agents contained in the steam introduced into said chamber.

Abstract: A through-air apparatus for drying or bonding paper, tissue, or nonwoven webs is provided. The apparatus includes a web-carrying structure configured to move and a first component having at least one sealing element adjacent the web-carrying structure, where the sealing element is configured to reduce the infiltration of ambient air into the through-air apparatus. The apparatus also includes at least one channel configured to direct air to the sealing element to reduce the infiltration of ambient air into the through-air apparatus. A method of operating a through-air apparatus for drying or bonding paper, tissue, or nonwoven webs is also provided. The method includes directing air to a sealing element to reduce the infiltration of ambient air into the through-air apparatus.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tissue paper making machine designed for possible rebuild from one concept to another. The machine comprises a forming section (2) and a Yankee drying cylinder (3) mounted to be rotatable about a first axis of rotation (A1). The forming section has a forming roll mounted for rotation about a second axis of rotation (A2) which is parallel to the first axis of rotation (A1). The forming section (2) has a head box (5) and a first and a second forming fabric (6,7). The head box (5) is arranged to inject stock into a gap (8) between the first forming fabric (6) and the second forming fabric (7). The first forming fabric (6) is a felt that forms a loop and is arranged to carry a newly formed fibrous web (W) from the forming section (2) to the Yankee drying cylinder (3). The tissue paper making machine (1) comprises a press roll (9) arranged inside the loop of the first forming fabric (6) and forming a nip (N) against the Yankee drying cylinder (3). The distance (X) in the horizontal direction between the first axis of rotation (A1) and the second axis of rotation (A2) is in the range of 18 m-40 m.

The heating unit has a first portion that comes in contact with the one surface of the web and a second portion that comes in contact with another surface of the web, and the heating unit heats the web in a state of a surface temperature of the first portion being higher than a surface temperature of the second portion.

The inventive tissue products generally comprise a single tissue ply that has been prepared by through-air drying and more preferably by through-air drying without creping. Moreover, the products may be produced using a transfer fabric positioned between the forming fabric and the through-air drying fabric where the transfer fabric imparts the nascent web with a high degree of CD strain.
