摘要： A file association recommendation function which when a user tries to execute a certain type of file such a multimedia file (e.g., a MP3 type file or JPG type file) for which there is no file association, a file association recommendation module is invoked that presents application recommendations to the user. The recommendation module will provide a user with a list of applications that may be associated with a particular type of file as well as a recommended application for the association. The recommendation module the queries the user to associate the MP3, JPG or multimedia content with one of the applications from the list of applications. The applications are pre-installed on the system. Based on the user's choice, the file association recommendation module sets that application as the default application for the certain type of file (e.g., Yahoo Music as default for playing MP3 for the user).

摘要： A client hosted virtualization system includes a processor and non-volatile memory with BIOS code and virtualization manager code. The virtualization manager initializes the client hosted virtualization system, authenticates a virtual machine image, launches the virtual machine based on the image, and implements a policy manager. The policy manager determines a policy for the virtual machine, receives a request to access a device from the virtual machine, determines if the virtual machine is permitted to access the device based upon the policy, and if so, permits the virtual machine to access the device. If not, the policy manager denies the virtual machine access to the device. The client hosted virtualization system is configurable to execute the BIOS or the virtualization manager.

The non volatile memory includes BIOS code and code to implement a virtualization manager. The virtualization manager is operable to initialize the CHVS, launch a virtual machine on the CHVS, and assign the component to the virtual machine, such that the virtual machine has control of the component. The CHVS is configurable to execute the BIOS and not the virtualization manager, or to execute the virtualization manager and not the BIOS.
