Abstract: A multi-stream rendering system and method may render and play simultaneously a plurality of audio program streams over a plurality of arbitrarily placed loudspeakers. At least one of the program streams may be a spatial mix. The rendering of said spatial mix may be dynamically modified as a function of the simultaneous rendering of one or more additional program streams. The rendering of one or more additional program streams may be dynamically modified as a function of the simultaneous rendering of the spatial mix.

Abstract: A method may involve receiving output signals from each microphone of a plurality of microphones in the environment, each of the plurality of microphones residing in a microphone location of the environment, the output signals corresponding to an utterance of a person. The method may involve determining, based at least in part on the output signals, a zone within the environment that has at least a threshold probability of including the person's location and generating a plurality of spatially-varying attentiveness signals within the zone. Each attentiveness signal may be generated by a device located within the zone. Each attentiveness signal may indicate that a corresponding device is in an operating mode in which the corresponding device is awaiting a command and may indicate a relevance metric of the corresponding device.

Abstract: An audio processing method may involve receiving media input audio data corresponding to a media stream and headphone microphone input audio data, determining a media audio gain for at least one of a plurality of frequency bands of the media input audio data and determining a headphone microphone audio gain for at least one of a plurality of frequency bands of the headphone microphone input audio data. Determining the headphone microphone audio gain may involve determining a feedback risk control value, for at least one of the plurality of frequency bands, corresponding to a risk of headphone feedback between at least one external microphone of a headphone microphone system and at least one headphone speaker and determining a headphone microphone audio gain that will mitigate actual or potential headphone feedback in at least one of the plurality of frequency bands, based at least partly upon the feedback risk control value.

Abstract: Described herein is a method and audio capture system for suppressing noise due to mechanical disturbances in an audio capture system. In one embodiment a method includes the steps of: a) receiving an input audio signal from a microphone; b) receiving an input reference signal separate from the input audio signal; c) processing the input reference signal to generate a control signal for identifying a noise event; d) in response to the control signal, estimating a contribution of the noise event to the input audio signal by applying an adaptive filter to a sliding temporal window of the control signal in the frequency domain; and e) based on the estimated contribution, selectively modifying the input audio signal to generate an output audio signal in which the noise arising from the noise event is at least partially suppressed.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for determining orientation of an external audio device in a video conference, which may be used to provide congruent multimodal representation for a video conference. A camera of a video conferencing system may be used to detect a potential location of an external audio device within a room in which the video conferencing system is providing a video conference. Within the detected potential location, a visual pattern associated with the external audio device may be identified. Using the identified visual pattern, the video conferencing system may estimate an orientation of the external audio device, the orientation being used by the video conferencing system to provide spatial audio video congruence to a far end audience.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for analyzing and resolving feedback caused by having multiple audio links in a conference room. An audio system may detect the presence of duplicated audio caused by multiple audio links in the conference room. Marker signals may be injected into the conference room or over the network in response to detecting the duplicated audio. Echoes of the marker signals may be received, and the system may determine which case corresponds to the detected duplicated audio based on the received echo of the marker signals. Based on the determined case, operation of at least one of the speaker and the microphone may be modified. After the modification, audio playback in the conference room may be monitored to verify that far end audio playback is taking place and that the duplicated audio has been resolved.

Abstract: Voice communication method and apparatus and method and apparatus for operating jitter buffer are described. Audio blocks are acquired in sequence. Each of the audio blocks includes one or more audio frames. Voice activity detection is performed on the audio blocks. In response to deciding voice onset for a present one of the audio blocks, a subsequence of the sequence of the acquired audio blocks is retrieved. The subsequence precedes the present audio block immediately. The subsequence has a predetermined length and non-voice is decided for each audio block in the subsequence. The present audio block and the audio blocks in the subsequence are transmitted to a receiving party. The audio blocks in the subsequence are identified as reprocessed audio blocks. In response to deciding non-voice for the present audio block, the present audio block is cached.
