Abstract: An implantable device or implant is configured to be positioned within a native heart valve to allow the native heart valve to form a more effective seal. The device can be deployed from a delivery system including one or more lines which can be decoupled from the device by energizing. The device can include contoured clasps which approximate the shape of the native valve when the clasps are in the closed position. The device can include a coaptation element with body portion including a plurality of struts and openings defining a lattice structure. One or more surfaces of one or more components of the device can be coated to improve the visibility of the device during deployment and implantation.

Abstract: A device or implant is configured to be positioned within a native heart valve to allow the native heart valve to form a more effective seal. The device or implant can include connectors that hold movable components of the device together. Components of the device or implant can include flex limiting portions. Paddle frames of the device or implant can be configured to be moved between wide and narrow configurations while substantially maintaining a position where valve leaflets are pressed together by the paddle frames. Paddle frames and/or connectors that widen and narrow the paddle frames can be tapered.

Abstract: A valve repair device for repairing a native valve of a patient. The valve repair device having one or more adjustable width paddle frame portions. The adjustable width paddle frame portions having an anterior portion extending from the medial side of the device to the lateral side of the device and a posterior portion extending from the medial side of the device and a lateral side of the device opposite the anterior portion. The anterior portion and the posterior portion are formed as a single frame member integrally joined at linking portions at the medial side of the device and a lateral side of the device. A connector includes attachment portions that connect to the linking portions to attach the adjustable width frame portion to the connector.

Abstract: An exemplary valve repair device for repairing a native valve of a patient includes: a strip of material; a coaption element formed from the strip of material; a pair of paddles formed from the strip of material and connected to the coaption element; a cap attached to the paddles; and a pair of extension members connected to the cap and the paddles via attachment portions. The paddles are movable between an open position and a closed position and are configured to attach to the native valve of the patient. Movement of the cap toward the coaption element causes the pair of paddles to move to the closed position, and movement of the cap away from the coaption element causes the pair of paddles to move to the open position. The extension members extend to end portions attached to the strip material. The end portions extend beyond the strip of material.

Abstract: Catheterization methods and apparatuses allow sensing of pressures inside the heart and for removing air from catheters. A delivery system can use the same components that are used to deliver a valve repair or replacement device to measure the pressure in the atrium or other heart chamber. A pressure sensor can be included in one of the catheters of the delivery system or pressure can be sensed through the same port that is used to flush a catheter. The delivery system can be inserted into the heart, delivering the valve repair or replacement device to the native valve, such as the mitral valve, the tricuspid valve, the aortic valve, or the pulmonary valve.

Abstract: An exemplary valve repair device for repairing a native valve of a patient has a pair of paddles, a pair of gripping members, and at least one latch member. The paddles are movable between an open position and a closed position. The paddles and/or the gripping members are configured to attach to the native valve of the patient. When the paddles are in the closed position, the latch members latch the paddles in the closed position.
