A seal is disposed on the outer edge of the wall plate between the plate and the outer cylinder of the valve slide. At least one additional flow outlet opening is disposed on the pump housing, the outlet volume stream of which openings can be additionally controlled, aside from the controllable volume stream that exits from the flow exit opening. The flow outlet opening from which the controllable outlet volume stream exits is connected with an outflow opening disposed near the rear wall of the valve slide, in the pump chamber rear wall, via an outflow channel. The outflow opening is enclosed by a ring seal disposed in the pump chamber rear wall, which enters into operative engagement with the valve slide in its rear end position.

It is an object of the invention to develop a driven, controllable coolant pump of this type for internal combustion engines, which ensures further functioning of the coolant pump (failsafe) if the control means fails, is distinguished by a high degree of efficiency and a very compact, simple, robust design, and, even in the case of operating medium which is loaded with dirt, ensures high operational safety and reliability and makes active control of the coolant delivery amount possible, in order firstly to ensure optimum warming up of the engine by “zero leakage” and in order secondly, after warming up of the engine, to influence the engine temperature during continuous operation so exactly that both the emission of pollutants and the friction losses and fuel consumption can be reduced considerably over the entire operating range of the engine. According to the invention, this object is achieved by a controllable coolant pump having a pump housing (1), a driven shaft (2) which is mounted in the pump housing (1), an impeller wheel (3) which is arranged fixedly in terms of rotation on a free, flow-side end of the shaft (2), and a pressure-activated valve slide (4) having-an outer cylinder (5) which covers the outflow region of the impeller wheel (3) in a variable manner, which controllable coolant pump is characterized in that the valve slide (4) is of annular configuration and is arranged on a plurality of piston rods (6) which are mounted displaceably in the pump housing (1), wherein an annular piston (12) which is mounted in an annular groove (10) in the pump housing (1) and can be moved in a defined manner in the annular groove (10) by means of excess pressure or vacuum is arranged on the piston rods (6) in a manner lying opposite the valve slide(4).

A directional control valve (40) is integrated into the coolant pump housing (14). The intake pipe (22) is arranged in the area of the end of the pump motor facing away from the pump impeller (32). Furthermore the bypass pipe is arranged in an area downstream of the intake pipe (22).The pressure pipe (34) is arranged in an area downstream of the bypass pipe (24). Only the coolant that can be taken in by the radiator via the intake pipe is adapted to be guided past the pump motor in a peripheral flow (50) in particular through a flow channel (56) limited by the outer wall (52) of the pump motor housing (28) and the facing inner wall (54) of the pump housing and/or the facing inner wall (60) of the directional control valve (40).

    摘要: The present invention proposes a coolant pump for a coolant circuit of the internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle including at least a radiator circuit and a bypass circuit. The coolant pump comprises a coolant pump housing (14) which is provided with an intake pipe (22), a bypass pipe (24), and a pressure pipe (34). It is proposed for the first time to arrange the intake pipe (22) in the area of the end of the pump motor facing away from the pump impeller (32).
