Abstract:
A retractable roof for a vehicle comprising at least one front roof element (4) and one rear roof element (3), these at least two elements being mobile between a covering position in which they cover the passenger compartment of the vehicle and a storage position in which they are folded away in the rear boot of the vehicle, the roof also comprising two pivoting arms (1, 2) mounted such as to pivot around axles of rotation (9, 10) on the rear roof element (3) between a longitudinal position in which they extend between the front end of the rear element (3) and the rear of the windscreen on either side and all along the front roof element (4), and a transverse position in which they overlap each other transversally in relation to the plane of symmetry of the vehicle. It comprises a device (11) for transmitting the movement from the rear roof element (3) to the pivoting arms (1, 2), the said transmission device (11) being arranged such as to enable, in a reversible manner, the movement of the pivoting arms (1, 2) between their longitudinal and transverse positions during the movement of the rear roof element between their covering and storage positions.
Abstract:
It is a roof for a vehicle comprising several roof elements (1, 2, 3) that can be displaced between a first position above the passenger compartment and a second position in which they are stowed inside the boot (160), the roof elements being, when they cover the passenger compartment, connected to each other and to respectively front and rear parts (40, 42) of the body structure (120) of the vehicle via means for securing controlled by rigid rods (5, 60, 10, 11, 12) driven by the controlling means (4). These rods are constantly connected to each other in pairs from one of the roof elements to another, as much in the first position as in the second position of these elements, by flexible means (8, 9) transmitting the movement generated by the controlling means (4) between the rods and allowing to secure said roof elements to the body structure (120) of the vehicle, as much in their first as in their second positions.
Abstract:
A convertible vehicle having a movable roof is fitted with a passenger compartment canopy that has an air permeable structure. This vehicle, whose roof, such as a foldaway rigid roof, hard-top or soft-top, is movable in relation to its structure, comprises releasable connection devices interposed between the structure of the vehicle and the canopy, so that, when the movable roof is placed at least partially at a distance from a position above the passenger compartment, the canopy is arranged in a movable or removable manner above this compartment.
Abstract:
The roof according to the present invention has a front part, a rear central element articulated to the front part of the roof, and two rear side elements that are installed free to move with respect to the central element. A front drive and guidance system is adapted to displace the side elements with respect to the central element when the front part of the roof is displaced with respect to the central element and includes two side connecting rods, each rod being installed free to rotate at the front part of the roof and relative to a displacement system designed to displace the corresponding side element relative to the central element.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for protecting objects that are disposed in the rear trunk of a motor vehicle having a retractable roof, said device comprising: a panel that is movable between a lowered position and a raised position; at least one sensor arranged to detect the position of said panel; releasable latches for locking the lid relative to the trunk, and a control unit for releasing said latches, said unit being arranged to release the latches when a command to move the roof or the lid of the trunk is activated, and when the position of the panel as detected by the sensor is compatible with the movement requested, so as to enable said lid to be opened selectively from the front backwards or from the rear towards the front of the vehicle.
Abstract:
An air deflector device for a convertible vehicle has a deflector mounted to pivot between a shutting position, in which it participates in making up the roof when the roof is in its closed configuration, and an opening position that it takes up in order to protect the passengers inside the vehicle from the flow of air when the roof is in its retracted configuration. The deflector is mounted to pivot on a carriage which is itself mounted to move along longitudinal guides, it thus being possible for the effectiveness of the deflector to be significantly improved by moving the deflector along the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a rear shelf (4) for a motor vehicle equipped with a roof foldable in its trunk and means for shifting said shelf from a use position to a retracted position wherein it is arranged vertically so as to clear a space to allow through said roof. The invention is characterized in that it comprises: a central element (5) designed to take up said positions; two lateral elements (6) each articulated to a transverse edge of said central element (5) about a longitudinal axis; cam paths (11, 17) designed to arrange said lateral elements (6) in the plane of said central element (5) when the shelf (4) is in use position and to incline said lateral elements (6) relative to said central element (5) when the shelf (4) is in retracted position.
Abstract:
A folding roof for convertible vehicles includes a front roof part hinged to a rear roof part whose rear end is hinged to the vehicle. The front and rear roof parts can be stowed in the trunk of the vehicle with the front roof part folded over the rear roof part connected to its hinge to the vehicle. The rear roof part has a central roof part hinged to the rear roof part, extending as far as the hinge between the front and rear roof parts and cooperating with an arrangement which, when the roof is stowed in the trunk, holds the central roof part at a distance above the rear roof part.
Abstract:
A retractable closure for an aperture, particularly suited as a sliding roof apparatus for motor vehicles, is disclosed. A retractable panel is mounted for generally horizontal translation without jogs between a first, closed position substantially flush with the upper surface of the structure and covering said aperture and a second, open position over a stationary panel in a recessed area adjacent said aperture. A liftable panel is provided above the stationary panel and moves between a first, lowered position 10 substantially flush with the upper surface of the structure and covering the recessed area and a second, raised position in which it creates a vertical space between its lower surface and the stationary panel into which vertical space the retractable panel translates in moving into its second, open position. Actuators for the retractable and liftable panels may be either separate or combined. In a preferred embodiment, while separate actuating mechanisms are provided for the retractable and liftable panels, the former acts on the latter during the initial opening phases to initiate the lifting.
Abstract:
A drive and control system for articulated vehicles which has the capacity of operating the vehicle either in a push-mode, with only the wheels of the rear section being driven, or in a hybrid mode in which a portion of the power is applied to the rear wheels of the forward section. The hybrid mode of operation is employed under conditions tending to promote jackknifing and/or loss of rear tire traction. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the tendency to jackknife is monitored by effectively sensing the transverse component of the connection force between the forward and rear vehicle sections. The distribution of power between the rear driving wheels and driving wheels of the forward section may be controlled as a function of the magnitude and direction of the connection force. A specially adapted articulation connection is provided to sense the magnitude and direction of the connecting force.
