Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for guided installation feedback for an opening sensor. Detected magnetic field strengths of a magnetic field created by a magnet of an opening sensor as detected by a magnetometer sensor of the opening sensor may be received over a time period. It may be determined that there has been a change in the strength of the magnetic field created by the magnet as detected by the magnetometer sensor based on the received detected magnetic field strengths. Accelerometer data from an accelerometer disposed in the magnetometer sensor may be received. It may be determined from the accelerometer data that the magnetometer sensor was not moving and positive feedback may be provided to an installer of the opening sensor, or it may be determined from the accelerometer data that the magnetometer sensor was moving and negative feedback may be provided to the installer of the opening sensor.

Abstract: A system and method for detecting human intruders while rejecting/ignoring an occupant's registered pet. An object detection system is configured to detect an object that is present in a monitored area and generate a signal output relative to the type of object. A signature processor is configured to receive the generated signal output and produce an object signature, and compare a threshold signature to the object signature, wherein the threshold signature is generated using a photograph of a reserved object, and wherein the object detection system rejects the detected object when the object signature is determined to be similar to the threshold signatures.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for motion sensor adjustment. A signal indicating that motion was detected by a motion sensor may be received. A status of an HVAC system may be received from a computing device that controls the operation of vents of the HVAC system. The status of the HVAC system may include times vents of the HVAC system are operating. Using the status of the HVAC system, it may be determined that a vent of the HVAC system located in an area visible to the motion sensor was operating during the time period in which the motion sensor detected motion by correlating the time period in which the motion sensor detected motion with the times the vent was operating as indicated by the status of the HVAC system. The signal indicating that motion was detected may be ignored as a false alert and no alert may be generated.

Abstract: A passive infrared sensor system for detecting the direction of movement by a warm object includes a passive infrared sensor and a lens having multiple lenslets. Different lenslets may have different lens characteristics, for example, different focal lengths or thicknesses, to produce focused infrared beams of different intensities for the sensor. As a warm object, such as a person or an animal, moves from one location to another in the field of view of the sensor, the infrared energy emitted by the warm object may be focused by different lenslets having different focal lengths or thicknesses, and the sensor may detect different intensities at different times. A processor may estimate the direction of movement by performing pattern matching of the detected intensities with a database of patterns based on actual statistics or simulations of movements by warm objects in the environment monitored by the sensor, or known characteristics of the environment and the sensor.

A signal including a current temperature may be received. It may be determined based on the current temperature and at least one previous temperature that an area in proximity to the passive infrared sensor has experienced a temperature change. In response to the determination that the area in proximity to the passive infrared sensor has experienced a temperature change, the signal indicating that a moving heat source was detected by the passive infrared sensor may be disregarded as a false alert and no indication of motion detected may be sent.
