摘要: Systems, apparatuses, devices, and methods for monitoring mobility aids are provided. An example apparatus includes a wheel attachment assembly, a motion sensor, and a transceiver. The wheel attachment assembly is configured to removably attach to a wheel of a mobility aid. The motion sensor is configured to measure rotation of the wheel attachment assembly. The transceiver is in electronic communication with the motion sensor and configured to transmit data based on measurements from the motion sensor. An example system includes a monitoring device and a stationary communication node. The monitoring device is configured to removably attach to a mobility aid and includes a transceiver and a motion sensor configured to measure motion of the monitoring device. The stationary communication node is configured to communicate with the monitoring device. An example method generates alerts based on data from an attachable monitoring device.

摘要: A system for detecting and discriminating the severity of a fall includes a mobile device configured to communicate a network, a notification module, and a wearable device configured to communicate with the mobile device, the wearable device including a fall monitor and an activity log resident on the wearable device, where the fall monitor is configured to record detected movement on the activity log. The notification module is configured to effect a selectable setting of a rate of communication between the mobile device and the wearable device based on at least part of a predetermined pattern of a fall discriminator within the activity log, where the selectable setting defines a predetermined period of communication between the mobile device and the wearable device. The fall discriminator is configured to determine when the activity log includes a notable fall event based on the predetermined pattern.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method and a system for generating and transmitting an emergency call signal. In this case, in the event of a dangerous situation involving a road vehicle, an emergency call signal having a minimum set of data (MSD) is independently generated in coded form by a base module (1) arranged on the road vehicle and is transmitted by means of a first telecommunications connection (3a, 3b) to a central switching unit (2). The emergency call signal is then decoded by the central switching unit (2) and a text file is generated, from this information and further information stored in the central switching unit, in a language which is conventional in an area defined by the position information. This language-dependent text file is converted into an audio file, and the audio file is transmitted to the base module (1) via the first telecommunications connection (3a, 3b), and an emergency call center (6) is then contacted by the base module (1) by establishing a second telecommunications connection (4), and the audio file is played at least once, or a further telecommunications connection to the emergency call center (6) is established by the central switching unit, via which the audio file is transmitted and is played at least once in the emergency call center (6).

摘要: Hazard detection systems and methods according to embodiments described herein are operative to enable a user to interface with the hazard detection system by performing a touchless gesture. The touchless gesture can be performed in a vicinity of the hazard detection system without requiring physical access to the hazard detection system. This enables the user to interact with the hazard detection system even if it is out of reach. The hazard detection system can detect gestures and perform an appropriate action responsive to the detected gesture. In one embodiment, the hazard detection system can silence its audible alarm or pre-emptively turn off its audible alarm in response to a detected gesture. Gestures can be detected using one or more ultrasonic sensors, or gestures can be detected using a motion detector in combination with one or more ultrasonic sensors.
