Abstract: Methods and devices for configurable sequence usage for user equipment (UE) uplink reference signaling are provided. In one provided method, a transmission reception point (TRP) in a wireless communication network receives a first UL reference signal (RS) associated with a first UL RS sequence from a first UE and receives a second UL RS associated with a second UL RS sequence from a second UE, the first and second UL RS sequences being non-orthogonal. In another provided method, A UE determines an UL RS sequence based on a UL RS sequence root, the UL RS sequence root being a UE-specific root and being independent of a cell identifier of a cell serving the UE. The UE sends an UL RS associated with the UL RS sequence, the UL RS sequence being a Zadoff-Chu sequence.

In this example, the method includes receiving, by a UE, a message from a network device, where the message indicates both that a first reference signal is to be transmitted over a first resource and that a second reference signal is to be transmitted over a second resource. The method also includes receiving, by the UE, at least the first reference signal in accordance with capabilities of the UE and the message received from the network device.

Abstract: An embodiment method includes identifying a plurality of VTP configurations representing allocations of TPs among a plurality of VTPs each having at least one TP. Potential serving VTPs are then identified for a selected UE in a plurality of UEs according to at least one UE centric criterion. The potential serving VTPs are selected for each of the plurality of VTP configurations. A UE measurement set is then scheduled for the potential serving VTPs for a scheduled channel resource according to measurement parameters. The method further includes selecting a serving VTP configuration from the plurality of VTP configurations according to UE measurement feedback from the selected UE.

Abstract: A system and method for communicating channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) in a communication network. A cell such as an eNodeB (eNB) or a transmit-receive-point (TRP) may transmit to a user equipment (UE) one or more synchronization signal (SS) blocks according to one or more beam directions available to the cell. Each beam direction may correspond to one or more antenna ports, and each SS block may correspond to an SS index. The cell may then transmit a CSI-RS signal configured according to the one or more antenna ports and the one or more SS blocks. In a different embodiment, the cell may select antenna ports of a neighbor cell for the CSI-RS signal based on a channel state measurement report of the neighbor cell received from the UE.

The method also includes transmitting a first plurality of data on a first TTI in the first downlink TTI segment of the first TDD TTI configurations of the first TDD interval and receiving a second plurality of data on the first uplink segment of the first TDD TTI configuration of the first TDD interval.
