    摘要: Hydrogen sulphide is removed from gas streams in rapid and efficient manner by oxidation to sulphur. The process is effected by intimately contacting the hydrogen sulphide in the gas stream with oxygen in an aqueous medium containing a hydrogen sulphide-oxidizing catalyst to effect oxidation of the hydrogen sulphide to sulphur, and transporting the sulphur particles to the surface of the aqueous medium. The sulphur particles collect on the surface of the aqueous medium and may be removed therefrom continuously or intermittently.

The masking device reduces the free surface of the electrolyte between the electrodes and this urges the gas bubbles together so that they coalesce, resulting in larger bubbles and less acid mist generation.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for signal-to-noise optimization of seismic-trace signals during seismic prospecting utilizing plural initiations of a low energy surface seismic source. The method and apparatus optimize signal-to-noise ratio by vertically stacking, that is, summing, inverse power weighted seismic-trace signals from each of the plural initiations wherein the exponent used for weighting is selectable for optimizing the signal-to-noise ratio of the composite seismic-trace signal. The range of exponents provided is correlated to the range of ambient noise, including nonstationary noise, commonly encountered during seismic prospecting, especially vibroseis seismic prospecting, for the purpose of optimizing the quality of seismic-trace data.

    摘要: This invention provides a process for continuously removing H.sub.2 S from a fouled gas containing some oxygen. The process involves the passing of the fouled gas through a mass of porous hematite pellets in a chamber, thereby producing water and forming elemental sulphur on the pellets, and abrading the pellets to remove the elemental sulphur in a comminuted form. This invention also provides an apparatus adapted to carry out this process.

    摘要: Hydrogen sulfide is removed from gas streams by reaction with sulfur dioxide to produce sulfur. The reaction is effected in a reaction medium comprising a non-aqueous Lewis base with a pKb value of about 6 to about 11. The reaction medium possesses a specific combination of properties: a) absorbs sulfur dioxide and reacts chemically therewith, the reaction medium containing hydrogen sulfide, sulfur and water to form complex sulfur-oxide species, including sulfate and polythionate species, whereby the resulting solution exhibits no or an insignificant sulfur dioxide vapor pressure; b) absorbs hydrogen sulfide; c) removes the hydrogen sulfide from the gas stream through contact of the gas stream with the reaction medium in the presence of the complex sulfur-oxide species; d) acts as a catalyst for the overall reaction of the hydrogen sulfide with sulfur dioxide to produce sulfur; and (e) has the capacity to absorb sulfur dioxide in sufficient quantity to remove substantially all the hydrogen sulfide from the gas stream, notwithstanding short term variations in the stoichiometric balance between the hydrogen sulfide and the sulfur dioxide in the reaction medium. The reaction medium may be preloaded with sulfur dioxide, whereby the complex sulfur-oxide species are preformed in the reaction medium before contacting with the gas stream.

    摘要: A nozzle assembly includes a readily replaceable nozzle tip which is replaced within a firnace adjacent an installed furnace-side end of a supply nozzle. The nozzle tip is provided with a pair of opposed, spring-loaded pivot pins which snap into apertures in the wall of a stationary nozzle conduit to removably secure the tip to the conduit. The pivot pin connection permits tilting of the tip relative to the stationary conduit in a vertical plane about a horizontal axis extending through both pivot pins. A link arm used for tilting the nozzle tip has a hook-shaped end which connects to a pin extending from the nozzle tip. The hook-shaped end of the link arm permits removal of the nozzle tip without having to remove the link arm from a lever assembly.
