摘要: A dual-pressure plant for the synthesis of nitric acid comprising: a reactor (4) providing a gaseous effluent (15) containing nitrogen oxides; an absorption tower (6) nitrogen oxides react with water providing raw nitric acid and, said absorption tower operating at a pressure greater than the pressure of the reactor; a compressor (5) elevating the pressure of the reactor effluent (15) to the absorption pressure; said plant also comprising a first bleacher (37) and a second bleacher (7), said first bleacher (37) stripping with air (39) nitrogen oxides from the output stream (27) of the absorption tower (6) providing a partially stripped nitric acid stream (40) and a nitrogen oxides-loaded air stream (41), the former being fed to the second bleacher (7) and the latter being recycled to the delivery-side of said compressor (5).

摘要: Zeolite catalysts and systems and methods for preparing and using zeolite catalysts having the CHA crystal structure are disclosed. The catalysts can be used to remove nitrogen oxides from a gaseous medium across a broad temperature range and exhibit hydrothermal stability at high-reaction temperatures. The zeolite catalysts include a zeolite carrier having a silica-to-alumina ratio from about 15:1 to about 256:1 and a copper to alumina ratio from about 0.25:1 to about 1:1.

摘要: The disclosure provides seven integrated methods for the chemical sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2), nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) (collectively NO2, where x=1, 2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) using closed loop technology. The methods recycle process reagents and mass balance consumable reagents that can be made using electrochemical separation of sodium chloride (NaCl) or potassium chloride (KCl). The technology applies to marine and terrestrial exhaust gas sources for CO2, NOx and SO2. The integrated technology combines compatible and green processes that capture and/or convert CO2, NOx and SO2 into compounds that enhance the environment, many with commercial value.

摘要: One aspect of the invention relates to a method comprising a single-stage conversion of an atmospheric pollutant, such as NO, NO2 and/or SOx in a first stream to one or more mineral acids and/or salts thereof by reacting with nonionic gas phase chlorine dioxide (ClO20), wherein the reaction is carried out in the gas phase. Another aspect of the invention relates to a method comprising first adjusting the atmospheric pollutant concentrations in a first stream to a molar ratio of about 1:1, and then reacting with an aqueous metal hydroxide solution (MOH). Another aspect of the invention relates to an apparatus that can be used to carry out the methods disclosed herein. The methods disclosed herein are unexpectedly efficient and cost effective, and can be applied to a stream comprising high concentration and large volume of atmospheric pollutants.

摘要: There is provided a photoreactor for the remediation of gaseous emissions and/or contaminated water using ultraviolet (UV) or vacuum ultraviolet (VUV). There is also provided an emission source for generating UV and/or VUV, the source comprising: a microwave generator; a chamber arranged to receive microwaves generated by the microwave generator, the chamber comprising: a gas comprising species for forming excimers; a resonator arranged to receive the microwaves in the chamber and generate a plasma; a first electrode spaced apart from the resonator; and a voltage source configured to generate an electric field between the resonator and the first electrode, wherein, on application of the electric field, the electric field drives electrons and/or ions from the plasma to generate excimers and produce vacuum ultraviolet or ultraviolet emission. There are also provided methods of generating UV and/or VUV, and methods of remediating fluids.
